The Girgaon Townhouse (1BHK in Mumbai)

Description

Beautifully designed rustic vintage flat nestled in the bylanes of Girgaon, the heart of heritage South Mumbai. This ancestral house, which has been with our family for two generations, was redesigned with a modern minimalist vibe while preserving its vintage charm. It’s crafted to make our guests feel comfortable and at home, with all modern amenities provided. The space This thoughtfully designed 1 BHK apartment features an attached terrace, high-speed internet, a 65” smart TV in the bedroom, and a projector in the living room for an enhanced entertainment experience. The fully equipped kitchen includes a water purifier, refrigerator, coffee machine, microwave oven, and all essential utensils for cooking as well. The apartment is located on the third floor of a vintage building and does not have an elevator, so guests will need to use the stairs. A 24-hour caretaker is available to assist with luggage, guide you upstairs, and help with any needs during your stay. The bathroom is well equipped with toiletries, towels, napkins, a washing machine, and a hot water geyser. For convenience, the caretaker assists with washing and drying if you wish to use the washing machine. The bathroom is not attached to the bedroom but is located within the apartment. The spacious bedroom includes a work-from-home desk and ample storage, making it suitable for long-term stays. It can also comfortably accommodate an extra mattress, making it ideal for families. The terrace is attached to the bedroom and, as shown in the listing photos, is a beautiful little space with fairy lights, perfect for enjoying your morning coffee, afternoon tea, or simply sitting with a book. The sloped roof design adds to the vintage character of the apartment and can be seen in the living room, foyer, kitchen and bedroom. Only in the bedroom, the sloped ceiling height is approximately 6.5 feet at its highest point and around 5.8 feet at the lowest point near the window, reflecting the charm of a top-floor vintage home. Taller guests may wish to review the listing photos for a better understanding of the layout. The caretaker stays in a separate room inside the apartment and does not share or use any guest areas like the living room, bedroom, the kitchen, bathroom etc. They have their own bathroom and other facilities. The caretaker enters guest areas only for cleaning or maintenance purposes. Daily cleaning is handled by the caretaker, who maintains the apartment thoroughly, from the bathroom and bedroom to the kitchen, including utensil cleaning, changing and refreshing towels and bed linen changes when needed. This is especially helpful for long-stay guests. He is also available to assist with any other requirements during your stay , ensuring a comfortable stay in this thoughtfully curated vintage apartment. Guest access The guest will have access to full home Other things to note About the neighbourhood (Karelwadi, Girgaon): The apartment is located in Karelwadi, Girgaon, one of Mumbai’s oldest neighbourhoods. The approach to the building is via a narrow lane, with buildings close to each other, which is typical of this historic area. The lane reflects the character of an old, lived-in neighbourhood, which may appear slightly unclean at times to some guests. However, once you enter the apartment building, the passages and the vintage wooden staircase is nice ans clean. The apartment itself is maintained to a very high standard. We ensure the space is always clean, pristine, and comfortable for our guests. The area is absolutely safe, including at night, as is Mumbai overall as a city. ⸻ Layout of the house: Below is the layout of the house. You can compare this with the photos on the listing for a clear understanding: • The main entrance opens to a staircase leading up to the apartment. • At the top, the passage begins. The first door is the bathroom. • The second door is the caretaker’s room. • Further ahead is the bedroom. The terrace is attached and accessed directly from the bedroom. • The last door is the living room. The kitchen is accessed through the living room. You will have separate keys for the bedroom and living room, so you can lock both when you step out. This is the layout of our vintage apartment, typical of old Bombay homes and part of its original character. ⸻ Location highlights: Walking distance to Marine Drive, Girgaon Chowpatty, Crawford Market, Kalbadevi, Saifee Hospital, and H N Reliance Hospital. A 10–15 minute taxi ride to the Gateway of India, Nariman Point, Kala Ghoda, Colaba, BSE, museums, heritage walks, and some of Mumbai’s best cafés, restaurants, and bars. We’re happy to share recommendations for food, places to visit, or any other requirements. Bandra, Worli, Khar, and Juhu are approximately a 30–35 minute cab ride away via the Sea Link, depending on traffic. ⸻ Getting around: • 5-minute walk to Charni Road station • 10-minute taxi ride to CST (VT) and Churchgate • 5-minute walk to Girgaon Metro Station (Aqua Line), with direct connectivity to Airport Terminal 2 • Black & yellow taxis, Uber, and Ola easily available ⸻ Parking: Two-wheeler parking can be arranged just below the building with prior notice. Four-wheeler parking is available at a nearby pay-and-park facility (7 to 10 minutes walk) as there is no parking available below the building as it is a narrow lane. Charges are approximately ₹450–₹500 per day. Please inform us in advance if you’re bringing a vehicle.
