It's literally the perfect getaway with a major *wow* factor - if you're wanting something very special. :) You'll have complete access to my gorgeous, modern, designer 2-room guest suite. The entrance is separate/private. This is a luxury escape. The central location positions you near everything! The space The entire bottom floor only will be your PRIVATE, closed off 2-room suite with a private bathroom, private entrance, private porch, and coffee bar. This place is truly a breath taking, gorgeous, tranquil HAVEN. Plan on luxury, uniqueness, attention to detail with designer furnishings. (This is not a shoddy Airbnb with tacky/generic decor.) Several of their books are on display in the suite. I'd love to add yours. :) Also: welcome to all parents visiting Marist, Vassar, West Point, or Bard. I advocate for the liberation of all humans around the world. NOTE: There is not a kitchen in this guest suite. But enjoy many wonderful restaurants in the surrounding area. See my detailed local guide! (I'm very picky about what I include.) ----- The View: -The crown jewel of my home is the breathtaking overlook of the Hudson River. Step out your door to miles of majestic views, never ending sky, flocks of birds, peaceful cloud formations, gorgeous trees, and a meadow below. The views will take your breath away every minute of the day. It's actually distracting, it's that good. And I'm so thrilled to have you experience it, too! Whether you're sipping your morning coffee or unwinding with an evening glass of wine, or just sitting on your private porch listening to the sounds of birds and frogs, the river will help you to feel a sense of CALM, DELIGHT, and WONDER. It's like living in a meditation. From ice floes in winter, to spring bursting for miles on both sides of the river, to the best fall display you've ever seen, to the lush green of summer...every single season here is an absolute gift. You must come experience them all. :) Enjoy the sunrise in all its glory (!!), eagles soaring by near daily (!!), double rainbows over the river, a perfect view of the full moon, constantly changing color, storms rolling in (very exciting!), boats and trains moving by tranquilly in the distance, and a view of the Walkway Over the Hudson. It's truly magnificent. ----- Discover Highland & Beyond: The home's location in Highland, NY places you at the gateway to exploring the Hudson Valley's rich offerings. From hiking and biking, rail trails, historic estates, wineries, rock climbing, apple picking farms, museums, gardens, and charming towns, there's so much to explore. Don't miss walking the Walkway Over the Hudson - right in Highland- for breathtaking views and a unique NY experience. **See photo captions for more info about the space and property.** Can't wait to welcome you soon! Guest access In addition to your private suite (which is the entire lower floor, closed off from the upper floor), you also will have access to the entire yard. I have a Solo Stove Firepit, with Modern Adirondack Chairs. Want to roast marshmallows?? Everything is provided for you, including Solo Skewers. There is a lawn game in your suite, if you'd like to play. ENJOY!! Other things to note IMPORTANT TO NOTE: DOGS ON PREMISES: -I have 2 lovely, safe, beautiful dogs: Sila and Pip. They are street doggies adopted while living in Ecuador. The dogs will be on leash during your stay. And, in general, we'll try to not cross paths with you or be bothersome. Your stay will be on my entire lower floor, closed off from the upper floor and separate from the dogs. However, if a UPS driver stops by, you may hear a bit of one-off barking. :) You also may hear a bit of pitter patter during the day. But if you're ok with a few dog sounds from time to time, it shouldn't be a big problem at all. There is a Dohm sound machine available in the room. Adjust the volume by twisting the lower half. ---- FOOTPATH: The path to the back of the house is not yet ideal. There are solar lights guiding the way. But there is one part that is ever so slightly steep, and slightly uneven. Able bodied folks should be able to navigate this with no problem! But if someone has any mobility issues or is wearing heels, the walkway would be less ideal. Also luggage will need to be carried, opposed to rolled. (I have a wagon if needed at all.) I am in the design process of getting a proper, more inclusive footpath created. Thanks so much for your patience! Also: if anyone desires, you may also enter through my house upstairs. And go down to the suite on my staircase. Just ask. —- HOUSE SOUNDS: The owner lives on the upper floor. You may hear sounds above from time to time. But it shouldn’t be bad. I honor quiet hours and keep sounds to a minimum. Just wanted to give you a heads up. The space and views will be worth it !! Again, a Dohm sound machine is available in your suite, for good measure. CHILDREN: -The Guest Suite is not currently set up for young children / toddlers. For example I have some house plants within reach. Also, I do not have a pack-n-play, crib or high chair at this time. -Very young children would need to be supervised at all times outdoors as there are some steep areas they could access. ----- TRAIN SOUNDS: There is a cargo train along water, down below the property. And an Amtrak train across the water. The trains pass by a few times a day. Once in a while they can pass by later at night. None of my friends or family have found the trains to be bothersome (most like it!). But just in case you are a very light sleeper, perhaps bring some ear plugs for good measure. If you forget, just ask and I can provide some. :) I also have a Dohm sound machine in the suite, for goood measure. I want your stay to be as comfortable as possible. —- NO KITCHEN: I have a French Press coffee bar. And dishes, glasses, mugs, silverware, napkins, and a mini fridge if you want to bring some take-out, pizza, prepared foods, snacks or a celebratory dessert! :). There are restaurants, a coffee shop, and a grocery store nearby (Hannafords). --- FOR GROUPS OF 4: When the twins are unstacked, the second twin interferes slightly with the spaciousness of the sitting room. It's totally doable, just a bit cozier :). Just wanted to let you know what to expect! Upon booking, please indicate how many guests will be visiting as I will plan the beds accordingly. Please let me know if your party size changes before your arrival.
