Description

“Ah the Serenity!” Enjoy all the benefits of camping and a much more comfortable sleep, without having to purchase the equipment or do any of the setting up. Pumpkin is nestled among gum trees on 50 acres offering a private retreat with a fire pit, slow combustion cooker, outdoor amenities, and magical solar lighting. Just 450m stroll to the pristine Mongarlowe River, it’s perfect for a self-sufficient stay. BYO linen and pillows. Wildlife includes: kangaroos wombats platypus kookaburras. The space WHAT: Pumpkin is a charming, renovated 1976 Franklin Sprite pop-top caravan providing a fun, orange-themed haven that perfectly balances retro charm with cosy comfort and all the basics for a back-to-nature experience. WHERE: It is located in the Pumpkin Patch on Scribbly Gum, a private 50-acre bush property just 15 minutes’ drive from the historic township of Braidwood, with views to the Budawang Mountains and the pristine Mongarlowe River running through it. COMFORT: With comfortable bedding, an outdoor shower and a Thetford camping toilet, Pumpkin is equipped for a comfortable, self-sufficient stay. Cook outdoors using the drum fire pit, wood stove, or gas cooker. Relax under the tarp on comfortable camp seating or enjoy an afternoon nap in the double hammock. NATURE: Close your eyes and listen to the sounds of the bush. Or keep them wide open and look out for kookaburras, magpies, sulphur crested cockatoos, galahs, black cockatoos, lyrebirds, eastern rosellas, blue wrens, bower birds, butcher birds and more. Wake up to kangaroos grazing and joeys bouncing around their mothers. Take a night stroll to spot wombats and listen to the owls and the frogs. If you’re lucky you’ll see echidna, the lyre bird’s fantastic performance and also platypus frolicking down at the river. PETS: Dogs are welcome but with all the wildlife, they need to be kept under strict control or on a leash. No dogs inside the caravan for the comfort of future guests please. And you will need to remove all traces – their waste does not decompose like native animals’ does. SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS: • Double bed with very comfortable mattress topper • Lounge converts to a large single bed • Bunks provide 2 single positions – suitable for children only (lower bunk with only 18 inches head clearance). Top bunk can fold up to provide a more spacious single or a lounge. WHAT'S PROVIDED: • Caravan with outdoor floor mat and shade tarp • Drum fire pit with hotplate/grill • Outdoor wood combustion stove • Gas camp cooker (1 gas cylinder included, BYO the balance) • Thetford camping toilet (in privacy tent, 1 roll of toilet paper provided, BYO the balance) • Self-fill camp shower from river water supply • Cutlery, crockery, pots, and cookware • Camp chairs, table, pantry • Double hammock • Solar lights (camper responsibility to recharge) • 20 litres of drinking rain water (additional BYO recommended) • As much firewood as you can collect. YOU WILL NEED TO BRING: • ALL linen and bedding including sleeping bags (or linen and doona) • Pillows • Towels • Toiletries, insect repellent, toilet paper • Washing up liquid, paper towel, tea towels • Firelighters, matches, gas cylinders • Rubbish bags - you are to take all rubbish with you • Additional drinking water BOOK NOW: Join us at Pumpkin in the Pumpkin Patch at Scribbly Gum for a unique, peaceful, no-fuss and environmentally conscious camping experience, where nature's tranquillity meets retro charm. Guest access Guests have full private use of the caravan, the ensuite tent, the outdoor shower and the seating area around their fire-pit and slow combustion wood stove/fire. Guests share the 50-acre property and River frontage with campers using 5 different tent campsites, and a River Shack, all a minimum of 50 metres apart. Please provide other campers and the River Shack guests with their privacy and they will do the same for you. The Hosts, Jane and Phil also live off-grid on the property and can be contacted in person or via message. Other things to note EXPECTATION The hosts advise that this is a 'fun themed' outdoor / caravan experience. It is better to look at the accommodation as an upgrade from camping rather than compare it to a holiday home or cabin. All cooking is to be done outside. GUESTS WILL NEED TO BRING Sleeping bags /linen/ doona/ blankets, pillows, towels. For the comfort of future guests, please do not sleep on the mattress covers without your own linen or sleeping bag – if you forget to bring you may be able to hire from us, but this is not a regular service, and we will not always be available. • Eskies & ice or portable fridge • Toiletries, insect repellent, toilet paper • Washing up liquid, paper towel, tea towels • Firelighters, matches, gas cylinders • Rubbish bags – all rubbish must be taken with you • Additional drinking water (initial supply provided) FIREWOOD An initial cut firewood supply is offered and there are unlimited branches and kindling available for guest collection on the property. Previous guests will have foraged and left firewood for you so please pay it forward for the next guests. OUTDOOR SHOWER The outdoor shower is operated by a pump that is charged by plugging in to your car cigarette lighter. Heat water on the fire to the desired temperature, fill large bucket, stand in bucket and place hose in it. The pump circulates water from the bucket to the shower nozzle, over your body into the bucket and back up again to the shower head. Very rudimentary but fun and embracing. Ensure your water is not boiling and top up with cold to get desired temperature. ENSUITE This is a separate tent with a Thetford camping toilet. Use only as directed and only put human waste and toilet paper in it. POWER All power is 12-volt Solar. There are USB points for phone chargers. Solar charged lights/lanterns and fan are provided. Telstra (only) phone and wi-fi reception is available on your own plan. There is no TV provided - BYO laptop or iPad. Registration Details PID-STRA-67815
