The Mountain House is nestled between dramatic mountain views and conveniently located on the property of Sheep Mountain Lodge, adjacent to over 10 miles of trails for hiking, skiing, and snowmachines. With 3 Bedrooms, a full kitchen and living room as well as 1.5 bathrooms it is perfect for a family or small group. Enjoy the view from a private covered porch. The space There are over 10 miles of trails leaving from the Lodge perfect for exploring. Birds and wildflowers abound. Maps are provided in each cabin for self-guided hiking. In the fall (mid-August), wild berries such as blueberries, low bush cranberries, and crowberries can be found in great numbers. Our guests usually enjoy soaking in the hot tub with mountain views, followed by a fire in the large Gazebo behind the lodge. Our lodge is located a short 12 miles from access to the Matanuska Glacier. Spend a few hours exploring the glacier on your own or take a guided hike to see the glacier’s wondrous features with expert guides.
