With Skye just a 15 minute drive away you are ideally placed to enjoy the splendours of the Highlands and Islands. Excellent food available in the atmospheric village pubs a short walk away where local musicians play twice weekly. Bedroom/Bunk Room Three Consists of two bunk beds with two doubles on the lower level and two singles on the top perfect for children or additional guests! Make dinner with your friends and family in the open plan kitchen and enjoy some of the epic sunsets or possibly the northern lights ! Otters, porpoises, dolphins, seals, basking sharks and (occasionally!) orcas can also be seen locally. Other local wildlife include - pine martens, deer, feral goats, foxes, wildcats and of course the famous Highland cattle! Birds of prey including buzzards, sparrow-hawks, sea eagles and golden eagles can also be spotted. Local Attractions Eilean Donan Castle – a great view of this much-photographed Scottish icon from the lounge. The castle has featured in many films such as the original Highlander, James Bond and Bollywood favourites. There is a coastal footpath from the house to the castle and the village of Dornie with its two pubs. Brochs – (ancient roundhouses constructed between 400 BC and 200 AD) There are two excellent examples a 40 minute scenic drive away at Glenelg – you might combine your visit with lunch at the Glenelg Inn and a trip to Skye by Ferry. With the help of the binoculars provided and google maps you can spot a smaller, more modest broch from the comfort of Castle View’s lounge. Plockton – widely regarded as one of the prettiest villages in Scotland is a short drive away. Lochcarron – another picturesque village is also a short drive away with the old Butchers or Waterside Cafe for breakfast, brunch or lunch. It sleeps 5 and we allow children and dogs (all ages!)
