This flat belonged to my Great Grandfather Ante Vukasović, and then my Great Aunt Vesna. She died in 2017 at the age of 100. I visited and stayed with her every summer for the last 20 years of her life (and my children also beginning in 2013), and so this flat became very meaningful to me and really instilled in me love for my Croatian roots. So much, that I purchased it from the inheritor. Plans began for renovation, and then Covid hit, causing major delays. It was finally finished last summer, and my family and I thoroughly enjoyed it for the first time this summer. Aunt Vesna didn't have much of value to use in the newly renovated flat, but I used what I could...the couple things she did have that you can't put a price on.....especially some really old books and family artwork (her brother was an artist) which are proudly on display in the flat.
