Book now 🌲 The space Escape to our cozy 750-square-foot cabin tucked among towering pines and oaks, with peaceful views across a meadow toward the creek below. 🌲 Perfect for couples, small families, and guests traveling with dogs, In the Pines is a quiet retreat where you can slow down, soak in the hot tub, gather around the fire, and enjoy the wildlife passing through. We're just 15 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, about 35 minutes from Mount Airy (“Mayberry”), and a little over an hour from Virginia Tech — making the cabin a great home base for exploring Southwest Virginia and nearby North Carolina. The Cabin Our cozy vintage cabin is approximately 750 square feet and has been thoughtfully updated with comfortable furnishings while keeping its rustic character. The kitchen is equipped for cooking during your stay, and the downstairs bathroom includes a shower, quality shampoo, conditioner and body wash, along with a few basic toiletries in case you forget something. A full-size washer is also available for guest use. Sleeping Arrangements The cabin offers several sleeping options: Main-floor bedroom: Queen memory-foam bed and Roku TV Living room: Queen sleeper pull-out sofa Upstairs bedroom: Full Size memory-foam bed + a “Eagles Landing” loft Twin bed 🦅 Please note: The upstairs area is accessed by steep stairs without a traditional handrail, so it may not be suitable for young children, guests with mobility limitations, or anyone who is less sure-footed. The loft area also has lower ceiling clearance and may be less comfortable for taller guests, particularly those around 5'10" or taller. There is one bathroom downstairs, located just off the kitchen. Relax & Unplug The living room has a 55-inch Roku TV for streaming Netflix, Hulu and other apps using your own login. The queen bedroom also has a Roku TV. You'll also find board games, playing cards and a few children's activities for a cozy night in. Internet & Cell Service Please keep in mind that most cellular carriers have very limited or no service at the cabin. US Cellular generally performs best in the area. Starlink Wi-Fi is provided and typically gives guests reliable high-speed internet access shortly after arrival. If maintaining a traditional cellular signal is essential to your trip, however, this rural location may not be the best fit. Outdoor Amenities One of our favorite parts of the cabin is the outdoor space. Relax in the hot tub while overlooking the meadow and watching for local wildlife. 🦌 Gather around the spacious fire pit area 🔥 with Adirondack chairs and a grill grate — perfect for grilling dinner or making s'mores under the stars. You can also: Relax in the double hammock Play a round of cornhole Take our extra camp chairs down toward the creek Explore the meadow and surrounding property Deer, turkey, rabbits and hawks are frequent visitors, and neighbors occasionally report bear sightings as well. 🐻🐇🦃🦅🦌 When exploring the meadow and creek area, please review the property boundary map included in our listing photos. The property is longer than it is wide, and we ask guests to respect our neighbors and remain within our property lines. Firewood We provide approximately 6–8 pieces of firewood to get you started during your stay. If you'd like additional firewood than the general allowance, you're welcome to bring your own or contact us. Additional firewood may also be available for a small donation — just send us a message to purchase bundles. Exploring the Area This area is full of scenic drives, hiking, biking, wineries, breweries, local music and unique mountain towns. The Blue Ridge Parkway is only about 15 minutes away, giving you easy access to overlooks, trails and some of the most beautiful scenery in Virginia. Mount Airy, NC — the inspiration for “Mayberry” — is about 35 minutes away and offers downtown shops, restaurants and even tours in an Andy Griffith-style police car. Wine and craft beverage lovers will find numerous wineries, breweries, cideries, meaderies and a distillery within roughly 10–40 minutes of the cabin. 🍷🍺 Nearby towns including Hillsville, Galax and Fancy Gap offer restaurants and local shops. One of our favorites is The Mason Jar. A few other nearby destinations include: Puckett Cabin at historic Milepost 190 on the Blue Ridge Parkway Fancy Gap Pottery & Fabric Outlet — about 15 minutes away Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre in Wytheville — about 25 minutes away We're in a great location for exploring both Virginia and North Carolina while still coming home to a quiet cabin in the woods. Bringing Your Dog? 🐶 We love dogs and welcome up to two dogs with no breed restrictions. Please make sure pets are included on your reservation so the appropriate pet fee is applied. For their safety and out of respect for our neighbors, we recommend keeping dogs leashed while outside. We also ask that you: Pick up after your pets Do not leave dogs unattended unless they are securely crated Keep dogs off beds and cabin linens If your dog normally sleeps in bed with you, please message us before your stay about bringing your own bedding so we can avoid additional linen-cleaning charges. We want both our human and four-legged guests to be comfortable while helping us keep the cabin in great condition for everyone. 🐕‍🦺 A QUICK NOTE ON FEES We don't love fees either, and we try to keep ours reasonable and transparent. Our cleaning fee helps pay the local person who personally cleans and prepares the cabin between stays — it is not intended to be an additional source of host profit. Airbnb also deducts its host service fee from the cleaning fee we collect, so the amount displayed to guests is not the amount we ultimately receive. Our goal is simply to fairly compensate the person caring for the cabin while keeping costs reasonable for our guests. Winter Travel ❄️ All roads leading to the cabin are paved, but this is mountain country and some hills can become steep or slippery during snow or ice. 4WD or AWD is highly recommended during winter weather. Primary roads are generally treated first, while smaller roads may take longer. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance, particularly for winter stays. Weather-related cancellations are handled according to the cancellation policy applicable to your reservation. Check-In & Check-Out Check-in: 4 PM Check-out: 10:00 AM Early check-in or late check-out may be available depending on our cleaning schedule. Please message us in advance to ask about availability; an additional fee may apply. Have questions before booking? Send us a message — we're always happy to help. Thanks for checking out In the Pines. We hope you'll come enjoy a quiet retreat! 🌲 Guest access The initial entrance is on the opposite side of where you pull in. Please be mindful of staying on the gravel driveway. You can use the sliding glass door entrance after you have been inside. You will have access to the cabin, the 2+ acre downhill and the small creek down by the bottom! Please stay on our property and do not enter into neighboring properties. Please pay attention to boundary markers. Although Michelle is very friendly 😃 and might invite you over for breakfast😀 If you're looking down the hill towards the creek, our property crosses onto the other side of the creek and there is an abandoned road you can walk.. If you have questions about the property lines, reference the pictures provided in the listing or feel free to ask. We like to walk down the road past the creek for a nature walk. Other things to note A-Frame Charm: Part of the character of this cabin is its unique A-frame design, which includes some lower ceilings and angled walls. Please be mindful of your head when getting in and out of bed or moving through a few of the cozier spaces. Loft Access: The upstairs loft is accessed by steep, ladder-style stairs with low railings. It may not be suitable for young children, pets, guests with mobility limitations, or anyone who is less sure-footed. Loft Temperature: Because heat naturally rises in an A-frame, the loft can feel warmer on sunny afternoons and cooler on brisk mornings. It typically becomes comfortable in the evening, but guests who are especially heat-sensitive may prefer the main-level bedroom. Travel Insurance: We strongly recommend travel insurance if there is any possibility that weather, illness, travel disruptions, or other unforeseen circumstances could affect your trip. Pets: We love welcoming dogs, but please keep pets off the beds and bedding. If your dog normally sleeps with you, please bring your own sheets and linens. Additional cleaning charges may apply if cabin bedding requires extra pet-related cleaning. What We Provide: Linens, bath towels, hot tub towels, dish towels, comforters, board games, and a starter supply of hand soap, toilet paper, and paper towels are provided. Laundry detergent is available for occasional guest use during your stay. The kitchen includes a Keurig along with a starter supply of K-Cups, sugar, salt, pepper, cooking oil, aluminum foil, and parchment paper. Hot Tub: Please replace the hot tub cover whenever the hot tub is not in use. This helps keep the water clean and maintains the temperature for you and future guests. Thanks for helping us take care of the cabin, and enjoy your stay! 🌲
