The Cedar Cottage

The Cedar Cottage has welcomed guests for several decades (as part of the Gil-Mar Cottage Resort). We've owned the Cedar as a family cottage for 18 years and have hosted countless family and friend events. But now it's time to open the Cedar to new guests once again. Please note, If you are looking for privacy, then the Cedar is not for you. Rather the Cedar is part of a collection of cottages offering renters the best of both worlds, a private cottage with the amenities of a cottage resort. The space The Cedar is a charming three-bedroom cottage on beautiful Sturgeon Lake. Its wraparound windows let in natural sunlight. The space 3 bedrooms in total with the ability to sleep up to 6 guests: * Main Bedroom with ensuite - queen bed * Lakeside Bedroom - double bed * The Dorm Room - double bed over single bed bunkbed A comfortable living area connects to the dining area, which has a 6-seater table. The kitchen is well-appointed with everything you need to enjoy a meal. The electric stove is new, as are most dishes, cutlery, stemware, and pots. You'll find many colourful serving dishes to plate your tasty summer meals. The deck features a new patio table and chairs (for 8) and an L-shaped couch with two Acapulco chairs. There is a 10' cantilever umbrella for when it gets too sunny. Spend the day on the dock fishing, swimming, or simply taking in the gorgeous view. The stunning sunsets are priceless. In addition to the amenities listed, the Cedar Cottage offers: - Napoleon BBQ (propane provided) - Paddle boards x 2 - Kayaks x 2 - Cantilever 10' umbrella - A lot of green space to enjoy lawn games - We have lots of outdoor games (corn hole, ladders, etc.) and indoor board games, which you are welcome to use Guest access Guests will have exclusive use of the cottage, except for the fourth bedroom (used for the owner's belongings). The amenities, such as the pool, beachfront, and fire pit, are shared with other cottage owners. The Cedar offers guests the best of both worlds: a private cottage with resort amenities. - 200+ft of direct waterfront access on Sturgeon Lake, clean water, rock bottom (we recommend water shoes!), easy access to both shallow and deep areas for recreation - Sandy beach - wade in to the lake - great for small kids! - Fire pit by the lake - Lakeside boardwalk with Muskoka chairs - Large, unheated pool (no lifeguard) - open from approx. July 01 to the end of Labour Day weekend. - Volleyball court - Shuffleboard court Our cottage is in close proximity to other cottages, so we ask you to be mindful of your noise and respect our neighbours and their space. Keep noise to a minimum after 10 pm. No parties or loud, excessive noise. Other things to note The tap water is not drinkable! However, we use the tap water for hygiene (showering, brushing teeth)...washing dishes, but we do NOT drink or cook with the tap water. Two large jugs (5 gallons) of drinkable water are provided for your use. Depending on your rental time, you should plan to bring more water. We provide light duvets and pillows. Mattresses and pillows feature slipcovers. Please remember to pack sheets, pillowcases, towels, tea towels and dishcloths. A supply of toilet paper, tissue paper and paper towels is provided... with plenty in the cupboard. Saran wrap, parchment paper and tin foil are provided.
