Guest access You’ll have exclusive use of the whole cottage, enclosed courtyard garden, raised terrace and private hot tub during your stay. There are no shared guest spaces. Private off-road parking is available right outside the cottage, making it easy to unload and settle in. Self check-in is simple and flexible, with a secure key safe. We’ll send clear arrival instructions before your stay so you know exactly what to expect. The hot tub is yours to enjoy throughout your stay. We carry out a quick daily check to keep it clean and safe, and we always aim to do this quietly with minimal disruption. Outside, you’ll have the enclosed courtyard garden, seating area and raised terrace, ideal for morning coffee, relaxed meals or sitting out after a walk. You’re free to come and go as you please and make yourselves completely at home. Other things to note Wyldwood Cottage has a characterful upside-down layout, with the bedrooms and bathrooms downstairs and the open-plan living space upstairs. This helps make the most of the natural light and views towards the forest. Downstairs bedrooms and bathrooms Bedroom 1 can be set up as either a king-size bed or twin beds. It has a wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables with lamps and a large window looking out towards the courtyard garden and forest. Bedroom 2 has a king-size bed, Smart TV, wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables with lamps and a blackout blind for a restful feel. This bedroom also has its own en-suite shower room with toilet and sink. The main bathroom has a double shower, toilet, sink, lit mirror and frosted window with blind for privacy. There is also useful storage downstairs, including an under-stairs cupboard with vacuum cleaner, mop, iron and ironing board, plus an airing cupboard with washing machine. Upstairs living space Upstairs, you’ll find the light-filled open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. The galley kitchen has two skylights and is well equipped for self-catering, with a fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, electric oven, induction hob and air fryer. You’ll also find crockery, utensils, pots, pans and other useful cooking basics. The dining snug seats four comfortably, with corner bench seating, cushions and a spacious table. It works well for meals, board games, planning your day or catching up on a laptop, with plug sockets nearby. The living area has reclining sofas, cushions, a reading chair, Smart TV, fast Wi-Fi and an electric log-effect fire for cosy evenings in. French doors open onto a Juliet balcony with views over the courtyard garden, hot tub, forest and nature trail. A fan is provided for warmer days. Outside Outside, you’ll have an enclosed courtyard garden with faux lawn, living wall, coal BBQ and private hot tub. There is also a raised patio with seating for four and a parasol, plus driveway parking and a lockable bike shed. Location and nearby places Wyldwood Cottage is peaceful, but still very well placed for easy days out and practical essentials. Walks start from the doorstep with the nature trail right outside. Forest walks are around 10 minutes’ walk away, with supermarkets around 5 minutes’ drive. There are several walkable dog-friendly pubs in the area, plus more places to eat within a 5–15 minute drive. You’ll find more woodland walks, pond walks and viewpoints within around 5–20 minutes by car, and many Forest of Dean attractions start from about 10 minutes’ drive from the cottage. Further afield Fancy a change of scene? Gloucester, Cheltenham Spa, Bristol and Cardiff are all around 45–60 minutes away by car, making Wyldwood Cottage a peaceful base for exploring a little further afield. For beach days, Rest Bay is the nearest beach, while Newton Beach in Porthcawl is the nearest dog-friendly beach, around 1 hour 30 minutes’ drive away.
