The Atelier, Hideaway Estate

The atelier was built as an artist's studio, in an open loft style, light and airy. It is nestled in amongst the trees at eye level with the birds It is truly a magnificent stand and i feel very proud to show it to guests as it looks so much more beautiful than in the photos. Guests have told me about the magic of the lake at night especially during a full moon when it becomes like a mirror reflected right back into the atelier. For nature lovers, it is truly paradise. The space The atelier is a newly converted artists workshop. It is loft style, one large space with high ceilings. It has incredible views over the lake and surrounding hills. It is situated inside a closed private condominium. The condominium is fenced and has a security gate. We have never had any problems of any sort. The atelier is light and airy and very comfortable. As it is at the top of the hill a natural breeze blows through the place and a ceiling fan provides air circulation as well. There is a large airconditioning unit for the very hot days that we have been having lately. There is a small kitchenette in the atelier and a larger outdoor kitchen on the lower level if the guests want to entertain people. The BBQ area is by the pool. It should be noted that if you have problems with going up and down stairs then the atelier is not a good choice because there is a climb of stairs to get to the top and the great view. Also if you are squeamish about the occasional bug or the sound of monkeys on the roof then again not a good choice. We are in the jungle and it is a natural environment so you will on occasion see a trail of ants, hear the sounds of nature and wonder what is playing on the roof. All you need to do is to let me know if there is something bothering you and If I can do something about it I will. Our neighborhood is a gentle mix of old families with money with amazing lakeside estates, International newcomers such as ourselves and simple living locals. But it seems to work and this mix prevents the neighborhood from becoming too ritzy. The Canto is mostly residential but there are a few good restaurants and shops sprinkled throughout certain segments of the long road that hugs the lake. Within walking distance we have several good pizzerias and a bistro. Basilico pizzeria is famous for having the best pizza on the island and I agree. It is obvious that it is a cut above the rest, also in price. There is a marina situated 5 minutes away from the house and we have a 7 person Evolve launcher docked (URL HIDDEN) is available with a captain for hire. Day trips from this side of the lake to the other are one of the most fun things to do on the island. This would include swimming and bbqs on the deserted nearby beaches that are only accessible by the water. There are some good water side restaurants also to be visited by boat. Our daughters are learning the watersports, right there in front of my house! We are conveniently situated for the nightlife in lagoa, of which there is plenty. There are an abundance of restaurants, bars, shops and cafes in Lagoa, a 5 minute drive or a 20 minute walk away. If you want to take the bus there is a bus stop at the bottom of the hill by the gate that will take you straight to a main terminal a few minutes away. From here you can get buses all over the island. The nearest beach of Campeche which is natural and clean and gorgeous is a 10-15 minute drive from the house. The surfing and windsurfing is optimum there. Should you ever want to leave the compound, there is lots to do in the area. Guest access We have access to a speed launcher in the nearby marina should anyone want to hire it for the day or even to bypass traffic as a taxi service across the water to places such as Praia Mole beach which get jammed with traffic during the summer. Other things to note We have 2 dogs and 2 cats living on the property. they each have a work purpose and are lovely animals.
