The space 🌿 The Shepherd's Hut was meticulously rebuilt to reflect the craftsmanship of the early 19th Century traditional English shepherd's huts. Pete and I, with the help of my father and brother-in-law Lez, have crafted and constructed everything you see in the outdoor space. From rebuilding the hut to creating hand-built structures and meticulously placing the decor, every detail reflects our dedication and love for creating a serene and inviting environment. 🌿 Inside, you'll find a charming, small and well-appointed space featuring a small dining table that converts into a comfortable double bed. •You have the option to have the bed pre-made before your arrival. Please state upon booking. •Clothing storage is limited however, we provide a hanging rail, small drawers and storage space under the bed. •Additionally, a wood-burning stove will keep you warm and cosy on chilly evenings. Logs are provided. •The little windows invite natural light and offer your own nature reserve with stunning views of the surrounding woodland allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the beauty of the outdoors. 🌿 Step outside and you'll be greeted by a private deck. This is the ideal spot for a morning cuppa, cooking on the open fire pit / BBQ or evening stargazing. The outdoor area offers a unique rustic glamping experience. Please bring your own charcoal or you can purchase at the village shop. 🌿 You'll find a well-equipped simple outdoor glamping kitchen area perfect for preparing simple meals while enjoying the fresh air and natural surroundings. The glamping kitchen is equipped with : •Mini fridge •Mini oven •Kettle •Toaster •Camping stove We also provide basic condiments and complimentary local eggs, milk, and homemade granola for your convenience. 🌿 Additionally, the outdoor space features an outhouse compost toilet, providing an eco-friendly and rustic experience to your stay. The outhouse is equipped with: • Biodegradable toilet paper. • Small hand basin. • Eco-friendly hand and face wash • Hand Towel There is also an outdoor, basic but fun hot shower area where you can refresh yourself under the open sky truly embracing the natural setting. ** Please note that we provide all our own homemade eco-friendly - Chemical free products on site including washing up liquid, cleaning supplies, shower gel, face wash, and hand wash. We kindly request that only eco-friendly and biodegradable products be used during your stay. 🌿 There is a small indoor yoga studio and an outdoor area available for guests to use for their own yoga practice or to use as a place to relax with a different view. Indulge in the tranquility of our woodland yoga retreat and reconnect with nature. 🌿 The owner, Andrea, is a British Wheel of Yoga teacher with over 13 years of teaching experience. Andrea runs retreats abroad, Woodland Wellbeing Day Retreats and weekly outdoor yoga classes at Briardene. If you would like to enhance your stay with yoga, meditation, relaxation, food packages we can create a full yoga retreat experience just for you. Once your booking is complete, we will send you all the available package options. Guest access 🌿 Secure parking is opposite our home. The shepherd's hut is a short walk from the parking bay. The woodland entrance is via treelined rustic steps with a handrail. Follow the path and you will find the idyllic shepherd’s hut. If you arrive after dark, a floodlight in front of the garage and another along the walkway will light your way. To the right of the garage door, you'll find a torch box on the wall to help you navigate the path through the woodland to the hut. Please feel free to use the torch during your stay and replace it in the box upon your departure. ** Please note the steps leading to the shepherd's hut are a little steep as shown in the photos.** Other things to note 🌿 Logs for the outdoor campfire and wood burning stove are provided. They are located in the log store. You will find the kindling in the wooden box at the far end of the hut. 🌿 There is a compost toilet. Only biodegradable toilet paper is suitable for composting. After use add a small amount of sawdust to the waste to aid in composting and reduce odours. Do not flush anything other than the biodegradable paper and waste. 🌿 Please bring suitable outdoor footwear and binoculars. 🌿 All bedding and towels are provided. 🌿 Wildlife: Briardene Shepherd's Hut is a haven for wildlife with visits from deer, otters, badgers, kingfishers, various birds, and a variety of owl species. All the wildlife images were taken in our woodland. 🌿 We’ve stocked up on bird nuts and seeds to attract a variety of feathered friends right to your doorstep. Use the bird feeders provided to enjoy watching these delightful visitors. It's a fun way to connect with nature and enhance your stay with a touch of birdwatching 🌿 Ideal for yoga lovers, of all levels and abilities, writers' retreats, wildlife fanatics, photographers, walkers, hikers, and birdwatchers to name a few. 🌿The hut offers a genuine nature experience rather than a hotel stay. If you're not comfortable with using a compost toilet or embracing the elements, this may not be the ideal accommodation for you. 🌿 Feel free to inquire about purchasing any of the products used during your stay to continue your chemical-free lifestyle at home!
