Margie’s Place

Margie's Place is a delightful little cottage in a family friendly neighborhood. It's a wonderful spot for walks and access to the main roads. If you're coming to Portsmouth, we think you'll find Margie's Place to be an easy and comfortable place to stay. We are a local husband and wife team who try to make sure our guests are taken care of to the best of our ability. If you ever encounter issues on your stay, you won't have any trouble reaching us for resolution. The space An older but recently remodeled home in a very nice area of Portsmouth. Conveniently located right off Rt. 23 and minutes to everything Portsmouth has to offer. Easy access to hospitals, grocery stores, restaurants, and Shawnee State University. We can sleep two guests comfortably in the main bedroom on a queen size bed. Our cottage has a recently remodeled kitchen, living room, dining room, newly refinished hardwood floors, and newly refinished bathroom. We offer a fully furnished kitchen ready for the “chef” to take over! So there's no need to bring any of your own kitchen utensils. Wi-Fi is provided. We leave extra blankets to make sure you are cozy in the winter. We provide many consumables to our guests such as: body wash, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, hand sanitizer, dish soap, and a dish pod. We also provide a Kuerig machine and a starter sampling of k-cups. For the kids, we offer an infant pack ‘n play with sheets, kids activity books, crayons, and a selection of reading books and board games/playing cards. New in summer of 2025 is a small backyard vegetable garden. We welcome our guests to help themselves to tomatoes, 2 varieties of sweet peppers, radishes, chives and green beans at harvest time. Guest access The upstairs of the home is vacant but not accessible. Guests will have full access of the downstairs living area. 24 hours before your stay, you will receive a message with all the access details you need, including address and door access code. Other things to note Please feel free to use the back patio/screened-in porch and any of the outdoor space. We ask that you do not try to access the garage, second floor, or basement. Please make sure all doors are locked whenever you aren't present at the home. GARBAGE: Place all trash in the large green can near the garage. We will come Monday evening to roll it to the end of the driveway for Tuesday pickup. ALEXA. You can use the following commands with Alexa: - Alexa, turn on (or off) living room light.
