Welcome to Posada Xetiox! A charming 6 unit rental with lake views located in the heart of San Antonio Palopo. San Antonio is a primarily Indigenous community with a population of 12,000, located less than a 30 minute car ride from Panajachel. This is a great place to stay to be a part of authentic modern Maya culture. While there is certainly less night life than Panajachel, San Antonio boasts magical panoramic views of the lake, historical sites, artisan shopping, great swimming & local food. The space Wake up to views of the lake! The house is a total of four stories, with six spaces available for rent. Each listing is for ONE room, that accommodates 2 guests. Message to request multiple rooms prior to booking. The specific room in this listing is one private room with a detached bathroom with hot shower, hooks for haning, a queen bed, and clean bedding, towels, and shower soap/shampoo. Immediately in front of your room is a lovely patio with scenic lake views, and upstairs is a large terrace and kitchen area with a sink and cookstove. There is wifi in the building though it can be spotty in the bedrooms. It works just fine from the terrace and there is a large desk with chairs so you can watch the lake while you work. There is a Pila for hand washing clothes, and a retractable clothes line for drying clothing. The bottom level of the building is a really wonderful locally owned restaurant that serves fresh from scratch pizzas, fried chicken and fries (a local staple) as well as a variety of smoothies, drinks, and daily specials. There are plenty of little shops with basic groceries just steps away, as well as plenty of places to shop for local artisan crafts including handmade and custom painted pottery that the town is especially known for and prideful of. The house is located just a couple hundred feet from the Lake and just below the historic church. Just a short walk around the corner is a wonderful spot for swimming, with a pebble beach and boulders to dive from. The town can be reached by boat or by road. A ride in the back of a pick up truck costs Q10 from Panajachel. Boat costs vary on time of day and if you choose private of public. A private taxi or tuktuk will cost Q100 in the day or Q200 at night. If you have your own vehicle, we do not offer onsite parking, however there is a safely locked parking lot you can pay to park at just a 1-2 minute walk around the corner. Guest access You will have access to your room, an open balcony overlooking the town and lake, and a very large terrace overlooking the town and lake. On the upper terrace is a small kitchen area and large dining table with chairs. Wifi can be spotty in the bedrooms but works fine on the terrace. During your stay I live on site on the top floor and am always available to help or meet folks passing through. We can chat as much or as little as you like!
