Description

Need a break from the daily hustle & bustle? Have you always wanted to explore the beauty & diverse ecosystem of kangaroo Island? Whether you're looking for adventure or just some peace and quiet, our Tiny Oasis is the perfect getaway for couples or small families. Submerged in colours, sounds, scents and textures of Kangaroo Island's unique nature. The space Don't let the thought of "tiny house" fool you. With 3 queen sized beds available and decent outdoor area, the space will truly surprise you! 😮 Our property comprises of 2 well crafted tiny homes placed side by side to surprisingly create quite a comfortable and liveable footprint, nestled amongst the trees on the most elevated block in the gorgeous rural bay side town of Vivonne Bay. Step in off the spotted gum deck through the sliding door to the main dwelling (knows as Tilly), and to the right you’ll find a well designed, fully functional kitchen. Complete with microwave, oven, gas cooktop, dishwasher and even a coffee machine. (we provide the coffee beans, just bring your own milk). To the left of the bottom storey, walk thru the cavity sliding door to find a spacious well thought out and stylish bathroom. With a large warm vanity, a decent sized shower and a compostable toilet, which we have future plans to use the composing materials to help grow the herbs and vegetables in the green house area at the rear of the property, transforming you stay into a self-sustainable, eco experience. Under the timber balustrade in the lounging area,is a Koala sofa that can pull out to sleep 2 more guests if needed. To the left are the storage steps that lead to the full standing catwalk. Turn either left or right to the loft bedrooms, so there’s no need to crawl uncomfortably in and out of bed. Also a cupboard and drawers have been conveniently placed at the end of each catwalk, to put away all your clothes and belongings. Each room has a cosy queen sized bed, with a window to the east that has ocean views of the beautiful bay and headland, and through the western windows you can look out too the rear of the block, over the bushland tree tops and watch the sun set over the canopy while nestled in the comfy sheets. In the smaller of the dwellings (affectionately known as the Buddy), you’ll find another ground level bedroom, with an inviting queen sized bed and bed base with pull out drawers on 3 sides to put away your belongings. You can also cuddle up in the mornings, open the blinds and look into the back yard where there is usually some wildlife stirring amongst the trees. The rest of the dwelling is dedicated to the 6 meter, under cover deck complete with BBQ, outdoor sofa and the bi-folding servery window that thoughtfully opens up to join the kitchen space to the undercover outdoor space, which can comfortably seat 3 people either side to enjoy a meal or wine with cheese board! The patio also has 3 outdoor pull down blinds, that in conjunction with the ceiling mounted heating lamps can keep the space cosy and enclosed all year round, and extends the living and lounging space allowing you to integrate both tiny houses so they don’t feel tiny at all! Also when all the blinds are down you can spy on the wallabies after sunset while they graze out the back, usually ignoring your existence! Both dwellings have reverse split air-conditioner systems so you can keep cool in the summer and cozy in the winter. Step out onto the lush green grass and you’ll find a outdoor fire place that you can enjoy during the winter season. Then walk down the rustic timber path that meanders through the canopy of scrub and melaleuca trees to the rear of the block where we have a green house area that in future, we will set up to grow our own herbs and vegetables for the full eco stay experience. Guest access Lock box location and pin will be sent out the day before arrival. Other things to note We have rainwater that is run through filters so is safe for bathing, cooking and brushing teeth but not recommended for drinking so please bring enough drinking water for the duration of your stay. The closest supermarket is in Kingscote which is a 40 min drive. It is also recommended to do a shop before you arrive, there is a large fridge and pantry so plenty of place to store your food. Just keep in mind the stairs are a higher tread than usual and there is a fish pond in the back so please keep an eye on your young children at all times to prevent injury and possible drownings. If you book, you are accepting complete responsibility for the care and safety of yourself, children and dogs so be mindful and alert at all times. Also the block is not completely fenced off, so if your bringing your pets please be aware that unless you can trust them there is the ability for them to stray. If you think you can't trust them not too chase wildlife or dig up the yard, please leave them at home. They are not permitted in the national park either so keep that in mind. As much as we love our fur babies, sometimes we even have to make the hard decision to bring them or not. There is a pooper scooper provided, so we ask you to please clean up after your dogs on departure, an extra fee may be charged if the cleaner has to do it for you!
