Get away and enjoy the views at this peaceful mountainside escape! This is a private 2 bedroom, 1 bath newly renovated apartment above the hosts' garage at the top of beautiful Palmer Lake. The property is perched atop the hill, walking distance to town yet adjacent to Pike National Forest. Stay home to relax in nature and observe the local wildlife or easily pop into town for a bite! Both bedrooms have queen beds, and there's also a queen-sized pullout couch to ideally fit groups of 4-6. The space This is a two-bedroom, one-bathroom newly renovated private apartment located towards the top of Palmer Lake (right near the Palmer Lake star) with incredible views of the front range as well as the town of Monument and Colorado Springs below. Palmer Lake is beloved as a small mountain town, attracting its own tourism, and also serving as a great launching point for your next Colorado Springs vacation. The town offers just enough small businesses to suit your needs - ice cream shop, coffee shop, steak & wings pub, and other eateries. Recreationally, Palmer Lake is best for fishing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, biking, running, and hiking. Additionally, the apartment would be a great home base to all Air Force Academy events! The host is a USAFA graduate himself and designed this apartment as a home away from home for Air Force Academy parents, cadets, family members and military members alike. If you are TDY or PCSing, we'd also love to host you! With that mountain town vibe, we do have dirt roads which require 4WD in the winter months. We also occasionally have wildlife guests which mainly consists of deer, but we've also spotted raccoons, foxes, turkey, mountain lions and bears on the property. The interior of the apartment is fully renovated. You'll find a fully-stocked kitchen, washer and dryer, walk-in shower, comfortable beds and fast wifi -- we provide everything you need for an enjoyable stay. The apartment is even equipped with brand new air conditioning, which is very rare for this area! The apartment is located directly above the owner's garage, and next to, but detached from, their main residence. However, you have a completely separate entrance and outdoor space. You may hear the garage door occasionally, but the hosts try to keep that at a minimum. Please also be aware that our roads are quite steep if you are walking. Palmer Lake permit #STR0731024 Guest access During your stay here you will have private access to the entire two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment, including parking spots for 2 vehicles and a private lawn & hot tub in front of the unit. You will not have access to the garage below, the sheds, or the owner's residence. Other things to note Wildlife is present in the area, as the National Forest boundary is just across the street. Do not leave any food in your vehicles or trash outside. We also recommend you lock your vehicles as bears can (and will) open doors to find snacks. There are numerous exterior lights to improve nighttime visibility, but just be smart about protecting your vehicle when visiting.
