THE LOCAL AREA: Southbourne is located on the coast to the eastern side of Bournemouth and is within easy reach of the historic town of Christchurch. Hengistbury Head is a short drive from the property and is a natural scenic area of Headland between Bournemouth and Christchurch. It is an area of outstanding beauty with far reaching views of Christchurch Harbour, Mudeford, the Isle of Wight, Poole Bay and Bournemouth. A scenic land train (known as the Noddy train) makes regular journeys from the cafe to the end of the spit, a journey of ten or so minutes. The Hengistbury Head visitor centre offers a variety of activities for all ages and abilities. Wick Village is close by for riverside walks and boating activities, a public slipway and 3-par golf course and driving range. In Wick Village is Tuckton Tea Gardens, a crazy golf course, river boat hire and ferries which will take you to Christchurch Quay.
