Pine Ridge Retreat is a traditional ski chalet perched above the treetops with a short walk to the Red Eye ski slope. Ski or bike down to the lodge, then ride the lift up to ski or bike back to the house! The great room's huge glass doors, windows, deck create private treetop serenity. Access this chalet directly from the driveway and front deck - no steps! The flat circular driveway easily accommodates four vehicles. This chalet's convenience to ski/bike slopes is hard to beat, and it's central location makes for an easy drive to nearby amenities - < 1 mile to the Resort lodge and 2.3 miles to Smiley's Ice Cream, Burn Barrel tavern, Pale Fire Brewing, RHouse Wine & Cafe, and the Community Store. Many features of this traditional chalet have been updated with modern amenities, but retains a classy rustic charm. It's a perfect location for families and groups that desire the rare combination of privacy and convenience. FEATURES & AMENITIES: The open great room includes a dining area and living room with a brick gas log fireplace and large SmartTV above the mantle. The kitchen has ample counter space and new, white appliances. It's conveniently located adjacent to the great room and dining area and includes basic cookware, tableware, appliances, and a basket-style drip coffee maker (filters provided, but please bring your favorite grind). The dining area seats six at the table and another two at the kitchen bar. The main floor also includes a bedroom with queen bed, full bath across the hallway from the bedroom, and several points of access to the three-sided wrap-around deck. The spacious king master-suite loft looks out through the great room's huge windows and has its own balcony, TV, and a full bath. The finished basement features a second living room with queen sleeper sofa, wood-burning fireplace, another SmartTV, pool table, a lower-level deck (with access to the property), a laundry room with full-size washer & dryer, large freezer, small refrigerator, two more bedrooms (one queen, one full/twin bunk beds), and another full bathroom. Sleeps up to 11 comfortably. The chalet is supplied with bedding (pillows, bedspreads, blankets), fresh bed linens, one towel set per max occupants, one travel-size bar soap per max occupants, two rolls toilet paper per bathroom, two dishwasher tabs, five trash bags, one bath trash bag per bathroom, one paper towel roll, one kitchen dish towel, one travel-size dish soap, and one scrubby pad. We encourage guests with large groups, or who are staying several nights, or who are heavy users of consumable supplies to bring extra supplies or purchase them at the local Basye Community Store. The flat screen Smart TVs allow guests to log into popular streaming apps, and 500+mbps WiFi internet is sufficient for pretty much anything you can imagine online. OTHER NOTABLES: Pets are NOT permitted. This is a Self-Check-In unit. You'll receive check-in instructions via email seven days prior to arrival (or immediately if booking within seven days) that include the property's address, driving directions, a unique Key Code, and other important information. This property has a propane gas grill and a SoloStove Yukon fire pit on the main level deck. It does NOT have an outdoor hot tub. Firewood bundles are available year-round at the kiosk in our parking lot (2565 Orkney Grade) and the Basye Community Store. Guests cannot access the Bryce Resort pool (Bryce Landing), which is for Bryce Resort member use only. However, guests have unlimited access to the Bryce Mountain Escapes pool at our reception office (2565 Orkney Grade). See pictures of the Bryce Mountain Escapes pool in the unit listing -- it's open 9am-5pm, Monday through Saturday between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Quiet hours after 10:00 pm are strongly enforced by the local security and police. MOUNTAIN & VALLEY FUN: Bryce Resort offers many activities and features throughout the year, including snow skiing/boarding, snow tubing, golf, Lake Laura swimming, canoeing, paddle boarding, paddle boating, and kayaking, and a thrill-filled lift-accessed mountain bike park. Bryce Resort is also the perfect launch point for many other adventures in the northern Shenandoah Valley, including hiking, fishing, hot air ballooning, visiting wineries & breweries, exploring caverns, antiquing, enjoying the Shenandoah Valley Music Festival on summer Saturdays in nearby Orkney Springs, and so much more.
