Firefly is an utterly unique and newly handcrafted Log Cabin, perfect for a family retreat in nature. The log cabin gives serious Yellowstone vibes but with a modern twist and embraces an inside outside living concept. The property boasts stunning views of a 100 acre lake from which guests can fish and boat across to tour the expansive neighbouring coffee farm. Great place to bring the family for some down time in nature. Please note this is not a party house! The space The log cabin has a large open plan kitchen, dining and living area with an impressive cathedral roof. The living space opens up completely onto the patio with a dining and lounge area with steps leading to the garden and with a partial view of the lake as well as a fire pit with rustic log seats where guests can relax and star gaze in the evenings. The cabin has 3 ensuite bedrooms and one attic bedroom. The property comfortably sleeps 8 adults and upto 4 children. There is a housekeeper available to assist with cleaning, washing up and basic cooking tasks. A chef is available on prior request at an extra charge. Bedrooms > The master suite with a king size bed overlooks the garden with a partial view of the lake and has a sky light bringing in lots of natural light. We can accommodate 2 younger children in this room with an additional queen size bed. > The second ensuite bedroom has a king size bed and a comfortable seating area and a workspace desk. > The third ensuite bedroom has a queen size bed. > The attic which can be accessed from a ladder has 2 queen size beds and can accommodate 2 adults or a couple of teenagers. Please note children below 12 are not allowed in the attic space. The modern kitchen is fully equipped for a short term stay with a beautiful albizzia wood counter top. We provide a bbq grill and an outside fireplace for guests. The property sits on a 100 acre lake overlooking a coffee farm. Guests can go boating and fishing on the lake (being mindful of the resident hippos!). We also provide a farm tour of the coffee farm with an in house coffee processing factory and a bird aviary. The aviary is sure to keep the young ones busy for a while with a variety of farm animals to tend to. For the adventure seekers who want to explore the area, we recommend visiting Chania Falls as well as some other waterfalls in the area. Firefly log cabin is situated in a private gated estate with 24/7 security. Guest access The lake on the property is accessible by guests for boating and fishing though we advise caution due to resident hippos. The staff is happy to take you across the lake into the neighbouring coffee farm where you can explore and enjoy a picnic on the Lakeside Banda. We are situated right next to the last pocket of protected primary indigenous forest in the area and have some wild animals around the area as well as plenty of bird life. Other things to note We have a back up generator in case of power cuts that is switched on between 8am - 10am and 6pm - 10.30pm. Please note we do not allow guests not on the original booking and we do not allow day visits either. We do not allow photography and videography for public dissemination unless by prior written consent with the host. Kindly ensure that children are supervised at all times. Please note the housekeeper does not performing child minding duties. We provide nanny quarters if advance notice is provided. As we are situated in a natural and fairly pristine setting we tend to have lots of insects and geckos. please take this into consideration when booking.
