Willow Fork Cabin, Big Cottonwood Canyon, Solitude
Come enjoy our cozy cabin in Big Cottonwood Canyon! Two levels plus a loft provide abundant space. Refinished Douglas Fir floors on the main and second levels and the original stairway between add inviting charm. Lots of windows offer beautiful views and bring in ample natural light. About 45 min from the Salt Lake airport, on a deep lot that backs to the creek in a residential area, the cabin is delightful year-round. The space There's a full kitchen, including microwave, stove, fridge, and dishwasher. Additional appliances include coffee maker, electric grill, toaster, and blender. The kitchen features a heated tile floor, and is stocked with pots, pans, plates, cups, silverware, and basic ingredients. Bar-height dining table with six chairs is next to the kitchen island. Kitchen and dining area flow into the main-floor living room. A second living room is upstairs. Spiral stairs connect to the third level, a large cozy loft open to the second floor. Enclosed gas fireplaces heat the cabin. A full bath is upstairs and a half-bath is downstairs. A tankless water heater provides endless hot water. There are a washer and a dryer in the cabin - great for drying cold, wet clothes after playing outside. The second-floor bedroom features a queen bed and marvelous tree and mountain views. In the second-floor living room are two couches for relaxing and watching the 55" screen TV. The 3rd-floor loft has a pillow-top queen bed (a very thick mattress on the floor, no box spring) and a single bed. The loft is a cozy area where kids love to play. The main floor living room has a couch with a comfortable, pull-out queen bed. We rent the cabin to families and groups of up to six people. Note that limited privacy within the cabin makes the place ideal for a family or adults willing to share space. The lot offers all the variety you’d want in a mountain setting: groves of pine trees around the cabin, open field in back and a shaded hill that descends to the banks of Big Cottonwood Creek where there’s a tree-sheltered area to picnic or just relax. You can listen to the creek, stargaze, or bird-watch from the two decks. Moose and deer visit occasionally. Look for snowshoe rabbit tracks in winter. Note: You cannot use a charcoal BBQ or burn wood in the firepit in back because the Town of Brighton has banned outdoor open fires at short-term rentals. Guest access We'll give you a key code for the front door lock, so you can let yourself in as soon as you arrive. Other things to note From Nov 1 to April 15 you need to be prepared for snow with a 4x4 or all-wheel-drive vehicle and good M+S tires. These are Utah DOT requirements for Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons. In Feb and Mar you’ll need a vehicle with high ground clearance to get to our cabin. Budget, Enterprise, Alamo, National, and some other rental agencies participate in the Utah DOT Cottonwood Canyons sticker program to identify vehicles prepared for our canyons.
