Brookside Mini-Farm is a farmhouse in the town of Hague. We call it the hamlet of Hague. The yards have been sweetly gardened with greens and herbs to stock a small on-site salad stand. Home: The sweet home has simple, cheerful furnishings, a large porch with a comfy hammock, a perfect campfire setting listening to the brook under the milky way, and extensive gardens of greens and herbs. 2 bedrooms: 1 full bed 1 queen 1 1/2 bath, washer/dryer, full kitchen, herb garden, 2 kayaks for exploring the lake... (Lake George is 32 miles long and ranges from 1 mile to 2 miles wide of clear clean freshwater—spring-fed from surrounding mountains. Dotted with islands that are fun to explore. Great clear freshwater swimming.) Seasons: Summers: Escape city heat in the crisp cool Adirondack summer—boating and swimming the lake in the day; Stargazing at night. Snowy winter retreat: Wilderness in the snow! Walking on the frozen lake is amazing for the adventurous. Sledding, snowshoeing, cross country skiing with your own equipment a 5 minute drive. Or groomed powdery cross country trails with rental equipment at Garnett Hill. Garnett Hill is priced very reasonably and a 45 minute drive. And across from Garnett Hill is Gore Mountain for alpine skiing. And Whiteface is nearby too! You have access to the house with the exception of the garage and a few closets marked private. I may be in the gardens on for an occasional watering during the week. I am happy to answer any questions and tell you about local things to do. Location: The charming hamlet of Hague is surrounded by Adirondack wilderness for daytime exploration. A roaring brook runs behind the house with a little swim hole and opens up to Lake George. Summer days are spent kayaking, picnicking on islands, boating, water skiing, fishing, and swimming in the pristine wilderness. Just a 5 minute walk through the charming town to the beach and boat launch on Lake George. Or a 10-minute walk to Dockside for boat rentals and a day on the lake. The hamlet of Hague has the Firehouse Restaurant and The Uptown for incredible dining. There are nearby pristine hikes of all types. Hague is located on the northwestern part of the lake, just below Ticonderoga. Amtrak train runs once daily each way direct NYC Penn to Fort Ticonderoga. A taxi can bring you to the house from there. Or a flexible Amtrak or Megabus schedule runs NYC to Albany where you can rent a car. The lake is fabulous and you are welcome to the kayaks but boat rentals are also available locally.
