Come for the views, stay for the vibes. **We can’t wait to share Rock Castle with you!** ❤️🏕️ What You’ll Find at Rock Castle 🏡✨ Kitchen & Dining 🍽️ ✔ Well-stocked kitchen – fridge, brand-new stove/oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, drip coffee maker & French press ✔ Plenty of tableware, utensils, drinkware & gadgets ✔ Starter supplies – coffee, creamer, soaps, paper goods, & cleaning supplies ✔ Full-size washer & dryer ✔ Eat-in kitchen with a large table for family meals Living & Relaxing 🛋️ ✔ Open living/dining room – big windows, sliding glass doors, a giant stone fireplace, and a vintage bar 🍸 Bedrooms 🛏️ Downstairs: ✔ Box Bedroom - cozy queen bed built into the wall + a sitting area, with a full bath next door Upstairs: ✔ Yellow Room – sunny space with two twin beds, kids’ books & toys 🌞📚 ✔ Guest Room – queen bed + balcony access ✔ Primary Suite – antique queen bed, stunning mountain views, & sliding glass doors to the balcony 🏔️ WiFi & Entertainment 📺📚 ✔ WiFi available – can be slower than we're all used to or spotty, but is usually good for streaming (phone hotspots help!) ✔ Two 32” Smart TVs upstairs with a DVD/VCR + a fun selection of 80s & 90s movies 🎥 ✔ Tons of books to browse 📖 ✔ Non-smart TV in the kitchen with a digital antenna for a few local channels 📺 Cooling & Heat ❄️🔥 ✔ No AC but the high elevation + mountain breezes keep it cool 🌿 ✔ Plenty of fans for warmer days ✔ Electric ceiling heating in each bedroom ✔ Giant fireplace in the living room for cozy nights For the Kids 👦👧 ✔ A magical place to explore! 🌲 But not childproofed – stairs, balconies, outlets, & mountains too! ✔ Spacious twin bedroom with lots of play space, books & toys Pet-Friendly 🐶❤️ ✔ Well-behaved, house-trained dogs welcome! 🐾 ✔ No fenced yard, so keep an eye on wanderers! ✔ Crate requested if leaving pups alone ✔ Furniture covers are provided for snuggle-loving dogs 🛋️🐕 Wildlife & Critters 🦊🐻 ✔ Expect to see deer, foxes, raccoons, skinks, skunks, birds & maybe even a bear or a bobcat! ✔ We do our best to keep bugs outside, but it’s possible you may cross paths with something small that makes it in. Except for these off-limit spots: • tiny old log cabin near the main house • old equipment barn- not structurally safe The two-story cabin visible at the top of the driveway belongs to an aunt and is private property. Other things to note Cell Service: • Verizon has the best coverage here and in the surrounding area. • T-Mobile works great at the house and in some parts of Floyd but has limited coverage elsewhere. • Other carriers may vary. • A landline is available for local calls and emergencies. Getting to the House: • The driveway is just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, about a mile from the intersection of Hwy 8. • GPS will guide you there, but you may lose service along the way. • In the case of no service, use the emailed driveway map and directions—save them to your phone or print a copy. Driveway Details: • One-lane gravel road with a few steep spots. • Completely safe with no drop-offs. • Can be bumpy depending on recent rain and maintenance schedules. • 2WD cars (even older ones!) handle it just fine, but a Jeep or 4WD can be a fun choice. • Low ground clearance cars aren't a good choice for this trip. Pro Tips for a Smooth Drive: • Use low gear and keep your speed around 15 MPH on steep sections. • Take it slow and steady on the way down. Wildlife Sanctuary: • The property is a designated wildlife sanctuary. • No hunting is allowed. • Enjoy the peaceful nature and keep an eye out for local wildlife!
