The space We are located on the grounds of Casa Los Encuentros, which hosts the most complete tutorial medicinal herb garden in the Lake Atitlan basin. Easy walking distance to supermarket and town center. Business center includes printer, scanner, wifi access. The Center arranges Mayan fire ceremonies and memorable, personal encounters with talented, indigenous artists and artisans who offer their work for direct sale at the Center to guests and in their own workshops and galleries to visitors. Our on-premises spa services (e.g., sauna, fitness center, massages) are offered at a special price to guests. Your apartment, our main lodge, and common areas are decorated with high quality art work and local artisanry. Much of this is available for sale to guests. While we are on the outskirts of Panajachel, the town is small and every place here is within a 15-20 minute walk, to include: the downtown tourist shopping area; the 16th Century Franciscan mission church; the “people’s" vegetable & flower market; and the underwater Mayan artifacts museum. We are only a 10-minute walk from the town’s principal supermarket. We are a 15-minute “tuc-tuc” (cheap 3-wheel transportation) ride away from the San Buenaventura Nature Reserve and the San Buenaventura Hotel, the latter of which is an affiliated luxury resort where our guests enjoy discount access to their private swimming pool and sandy beach . We are just off the main road leading to Sta. Catarina and San Antonio Palopo, the only 2 lakeside indigenous communities of tourist interest that can readily be reached by road. Just 100 meters from our location, you can access public transportation that can economically carry you to these two communities; 2.5 and 5 miles distance, respectively, from our location. If you speak some Spanish and have a good guidebook, you can enjoy these place on your own. Otherwise, for a reasonable price, we can provide you with an educated English-speaking guide. If you are a hiker, you can hike to the first of these along a picturesque road and take public transportation to the second of the two. We also offer guides, at a reasonable price, for the best, most secure hiking trail in the Lake Atitlan basin. Guest access Guests have access to all common grounds. Those staying 1 week or more have supervised access to fresh condiments & medicinal herbs from interior gardens for cooking & treatment. Laundry service provided at a small additional fee. Other things to note Three books on Atitlan written by the owner are available to guests at wholesale price.
