Poggio di Fiesole Farmhouse
Agriturismo Fattoria Poggio di Fiesole
Description
Enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds this centuries-old farmhouse. Nestled in olive groves near the top of a hill, sweeping views of Florence and the timeless Tuscan countryside abound. A short drive from the hilltop village of Fiesole and 15 minutes from Florence, the farm is a prime example of the tranquil countryside. Spend your days exploring olive groves and napping under cypress trees and your evenings soaking in breathtaking sunsets from our privledged perch at the top of the world. The space **Please note that the photos included are of the house before a recently completed renovation. The home will be similar to the one pictured here, but with new furnishings throughout.** Logge is a large, bright apartment full of Tuscan charm. It has a pleasant south-western exposure and offers sweeping views of the Mugnone Valley and Firenze from its large, private garden. The roomy flat has rich, red terracotta flooring and wooden beamed lined ceilings throughout, making it an easy place to call home. The main living space is open concept and includes a modern, fully equipped kitchen, and comfortable living and dining areas. The pullout couch conveniently expands to accommodate two more people. The master bedroom has a queen size bed, and a full, modern bath located right outside of the room. The other bedroom is also equipped with a queen size bed and has a full, modern bath ensuite. On request, both bedrooms can be configured with two single beds rather than one queen size bed. The apartment has a lovely, spacious, private garden that provides ample shade throughout the day. In it are a shaded table with chairs, making it an excellent spot for dining alfresco during the warmer months (which are plentiful in this area of the world!) or for relaxing and enjoying a peaceful afternoon while basking in the splendour of the Tuscan hills. Guests can make use of the stone barbecue, which is located nearby on the main terrace overlooking the valley. The apartment, just 5 minutes by car from Fiesole's main square and 15 minutes to Florence, allows for a relaxed and pleasant stay, with nature right outside your door and a myriad of Renaissance monuments nearby. Guest access We welcome you to feel at home! Guests typically come to the farm when they are looking to escape the busy sidewalks and bright lights of the beautiful historic cities surrounding us. Each apartment comes with a dedicated outdoor space, complete with a shaded table and chairs for dining outdoors. A shared grill is also available to guests upon request. In addition, the 17.5 acres of our farm are open to guests and we encourage visitors to wander through our wooded areas and olive groves which offer breathtaking views of the Mugnone Valley and a sense of unparalleled serenity. Other things to note Our fattoria, like all agriturismos in Italy, is a dynamic and vibrant farm. We make every effort to keep activities away from the house in the early morning hours, but please don't be surprised if you see a tractor rolling by in the early hours as it heads out to the fields -- especially in the summer, when working hours outside are limited to cooler times of the day. We'd love to give you an informal tour of the farm and show you what we're up to during the day! Formal tours and olive oil tastings are available at an additional cost and can be scheduled around the guests' availability. We are also proud producers of a highly awarded organic extra virgin olive oil. Our oil can be purchased directly from our olive oil cellar to use while cooking at the farm or to take home with you! About the farm: For much of its long history, Fattoria Poggio di Fiesole has served as a refuge to those looking for tranquility. From its original founding as a convent in the early 15th century to yoga retreats hosted by Vanda Scaravelli, grandmother of the current owners, with some of the most important masters of the time in the 1960s and 1970s, our farmhouse long has opened its doors for people from all over the world. Our farmhouse is defined by its deep roots in local culture and an openness to the world. Since its founding, our farm has always cared for its olive trees and fields naturally and without chemicals. These efforts began with the centenary effort of the ancestral farmers and were further developed by Vanda's son, Alberto Scaravelli, in the 1970s. Today we pursue Albert’s goal, striving for sustainability in all facets of our operations. Our approach to the land, which constantly pushes the boundaries of organic farming towards permaculture, fosters a healthy ecosystem. Our efforts can be tasted, breathed, and seen as they pass from our water supply to our soils and into the air. Alberto's children, Enrico and Dario, along with their mother Gabriella and cousins Anna and Pietro, who live at the farm, strive to provide the same peace that our guests have enjoyed for centuries. Coming from different countries and professions, this new generation seeks to infuse their previous experience in hospitality, architecture, higher education, and travel into this family business. We lay each new stone in this edifice with the highest reverence for those who came before us, and forever curious about who will follow in our footsteps. Registration Details IT048015B563I5PZUQ
