Niki House, a cozy cottage with an ocean view

A cozy cottage with an ocean view in a tranquil island, a place where you can start to explore the beauty of Vesterålen. My husband and I started our project in 2017 and finished it in the end of July 2024. I’ve been obsessed with the bay window where I can see the beauty of the view through all the seasons which give me such a different moment in every season to take on. I would love to share those moments with all of you. Welcome to our place and make your own memory to bring home. The space Our cottage was built beside the main house where we live. It's 28 square meter building with private and easy acces to park your car just in front of the cottage. We designed this cottage to make our guest feel home during their holiday. It has a small but practical kitchen with necessary kitchen utensils alog with a dining space to enjoy your meals. The bathroom has floor heater to make our guest more comfortable. We provide a double bed for guest to take a rest through the nights. A cozy living room with a comfy chair facing the bay window where you can enjoy the view through all the season. There is a glass door to get an easy access to the terrace where you can relax and take a fresh air while enjoying the ocean view. Guest access Our cottage located in Hadsel island, Vesterålen. It is only 2 km from down town where you can find some shops and restaurant. The nearest grocery store/supermarket is about 400 meter only from the cottage. There is an EV charger station outiside the supermarket where you can charge your electric car. There is a small airport in Stokmarknes which is only 8 minutes drive from our property. The airport connected to the bigger airport like Bodø and Tromsø. If you choose to fly from home to Bodø or Tromsø then you can easily connect to the airport in Stokmarknes. Otherwise, you can fly to Evenes, Harstad and drive 2,5 hours to Niki House with a beautiful view all the way from the airport to our cottage. Tips: The three letter code for Stokmarknes airport is SKN, if you would like to book your flight with Wideroe. Other things to note Niki House is located in Stokmarknes, Hadseløya Vesterålen – Nordland. The land area of Hadseløya is around 102 square kilometer with its population around 8000 while Stokmarknes’s land area is 2,47 square kilometer. Stokmarknes has around 3500 in population – data based on year 2023. Hadseløya (øya is island in English) is one of the big island in Hadsel municipality beside Langøya, Austvågøy and Hinnøya – where Møysalen national park is. The highest peak in Hadseløya is 657 meter above sea level, Lamlitinden located near Taen. We have a hospital which is only 2 minutes drives from Niki House and a small airport with 870 meter runway in Skagen, Langøya about 5 km away from Niki House. The airport is connected to the bigger airport in Bodø (southbound) or Tromsø (northbound). Stokmarknes airport serve commercial flight with aircraft type De Havilland DHC-8 100 Series. Hadsel is still an important fishing municipality with a significant fishing industry. The two of fishing industry which contribute to the community are Nordlaks (Børøya) and Lerøy (Melbu). Drive around Hadsel island (it’s a MUST ) You will experience the nature closer and meet local people by driving around the island. It’s 42 km to drive around Hadseløya and takes more or less one hour (straight). We usually start from the downtown – from Niki House drive to the main road and turn right. Before the bridge, please turn to the left and straight until the end of the road then turn right. Leaving the centrum, you need to turn left and just follow the narrow country road. You can make some stops on the way home. I wrote down (please check my guidebook) some places you can consider to visit and enjoy your time while you are in Stokmarknes.
