Welcome to Ursa Major! Our comfortable light filled family home in the woods has everything you need for a relaxing time away, just 75 miles from NYC. The space There's lots of space here to exhale, relax, and spread out. *Play games with friends in the spacious living room with fireplace. *Bask in the sun on the giant deck, or have a campfire in the backyard around the fire pit. *Our full kitchen is set up with everything you need to prepare meals. *Wifi and a Roku/TV keep you connected and entertained if you must stay indoors There's a supermarket 5 minutes away and the nearby town of Milford has some great restaurants -- ask us for recommendations. Near dozens of hiking trails, spectacular waterfalls, and forest swimming holes. Just 5 minutes from the Delaware river. Ursa Major is a great home base for a canoeing, kayaking, or rafting adventure! Nearby attractions include the Delaware river, Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, Childs Park, Dingmans falls, Pocono Environmental Education Center, Peters Valley School of Craft, Grey Towers National Historic Site, Shawnee Mountain ski area, Camelback ski mountain/waterpark, and the town of Milford, PA. Please note: **Ursa Major is at the top of a hill with a badly maintained dirt/gravel road. Use caution and drive slowly! In winter the road is not always passable to cars without 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive. 4 wheel/all wheel drive is a MUST if you are planning a visit in snowy or icy conditions. **We do our best to keep Ursa Major a fragrance-free house, in order to accommodate guests with fragrance sensitivities. If this is you, you've found your sweet spot! We use unscented detergent and cleaning products here. Get in touch if you need more details. **A note about pets: We love dogs! Trained, housebroken, friendly dogs are welcome here on a case by case basis. If you are interested in bringing a pet, message us and tell us about your pet ahead of time. Undisclosed animals are not allowed on the property. Please don't leave pets alone in the house *unless you have specifically discussed it with us*; don't let pets wander off the property; and please also make sure to clean up any dog waste in the yard. Sorry, no cats due to allergies. We charge a $30 fee per pet per stay to offset extra pet-related cleaning. Other things to note We like to say hi in person if we're around but give you your space unless you reach out to us
