Description
We are so excited invite you to share our little piece of the world in Gippsland Vic. 3 years ago we commenced renovating the original 1890's cottage on our hobby farm hoping that others would like to come and stay! We have Scottish Highland cows, miniature goats, sheep, free range chickens and Murray Grey cows. Most are happy to say hello. The cottage is located where we live so we will be around if you want a chat but happy to give you your privacy too. Please see other details re children. The space The cottage has a lovely fireplace and wood, firelighters and kindling is provided for free for a cozy evening in winter. Summer can be spent on the front deck watching the sunrise or the back deck (or bath) watching the sun set. Located on 50 acres our hobby farm is located on the edge of a protected salt marsh on the Gippsland coast. We have Scottish Highland and Murray Grey cows, miniature goats, hand reared sheep and free-range chickens. Kangaroos are usually in the back paddock at sunset and sunrise, we have a few wombats that you might be lucky enough to spot and plenty of native birds in our cypress trees. We also have a healthy population of protected hog deer, they are very shy but can sometimes be seen. We are about 1 hours drive from Sale, Traralgon and Leongatha. Pt Albert is 10 mins away and perfect for boating and fishing as is McLaughlans Beach and Port Welshpool - all have great boat ramps. Woodside Beach is a 20 min drive and great for surf fishing and swimming (beach is patrolled through summer). The town of Yarram is 15 mins drive away and has a Woolworths, IGA, great coffee shops, bakeries and places to eat. We are also close to the Great Southern Rail Trail if you enjoy bike riding. If you are a runner you can enjoy a jog to Manns beach (12km round trip) or a shorter run to visit the cows down the road! We have plenty of room to park your boat or caravan also. Guest access The cottage has its own space, driveway and front and back decks. You are welcome to enter the paddocks and say hello to the animals. Highland cows have big horns so we expect you to be cautious and take care around them. Please do not enter paddocks with food. Our home, pool and yard are not to be entered including the dog's yard. Other things to note There is about 6km of dirt road to get to our property - this is all weather passable. We will accept bookings with 1 child within existing bedding or your own portacot. Please note our dams and the fountain are not fenced and are accessible to children from the cottage through farm fencing. We are happy to have children but you bring them at your own risk and supervision. The fireplace does not have a guard so again if you chose to light the fire please ensure your child is safe. We will charge an additional fee if there is extra cleaning required when you leave as we do not charge a cleaning fee per booking based on adults being accommodated..
