Other things to note Dogs (on a leash) are welcome. Welcome to our ecological and natural house in Puerto Viejo Limon. We hope you feel just as comfortable here as we do. We built this home with a lot of love and a lot of courage to offer not only us, but also you an unforgettable stay in Puerto Viejo. The house was designed by carpenter and graphic designer Stephan Schönberger and lifestyle editor Kati Hofacker. We are also the owners. Your host is Sophia, Stephan's daughter and Kati's bonus daughter. The approval plan was drawn up by the local architect Eduardo Allan Corrales according to our ideas. It was built by the master builder Jean Carlo Martinez Romero, who is also based here, with his father Jorge and his team. We have deliberately taken care to ensure that products that are widely available regionally are used. Especially with wood - laurel and cacha - to create an overall healthy and pleasant living atmosphere. Italian tiles and handmade furniture, also by a local master carpenter and the eco-company Masaya, complete our dream of Caribbean life. The kitchen, bathroom, electrical and WiFi are state of the art. Cleaning team: Our cleaning team comes after each departure or, for long-term stays, once a week. If you need new bed linen or towels beforehand, please talk to Sophia. Your floors will not be cleaned in the meantime. If you want to keep it pretty in rainy seasons, you could take off your shoes on the stairs. Water: The water is pumped from its own well and comes filtered from the taps. It has been analyzed and is non-toxic. However, it is recommended to boil the water before consumption. There is also hot water in the shower and the kitchen faucet. But be careful, the water heater has no temperature limit. Toilet paper: Please do not throw it in the toilet. Likewise, no hair, tampons, etc. Risk of clogging!!! Please tie the bags for your toilet paper buckets together and throw them in the pink garbage cans at the beginning of Calle Rosa, just like all your garbage bags. Or just leave it in the room when you leave. Mosquito door: Operate the screen on the entrance door with care. It closes perfectly if you slightly squeeze the groove and spring of the two wings at the top and bottom. If it does not close, a roller may have jumped off the lower rail. Then lift the door slightly on the side concerned and put it back in the middle. Door lock: Again, close the door carefully. Only when it is completely closed can the key be turned. It is best to engage the right door leaf from the outside, then gently insert the left one; nothing works with force here. The lock has the special feature that after unlocking or locking, you have to turn the key back to the original position to be able to remove it. From the inside, the door can also be locked without a key. Light: We loosely screwed two of four bulbs in the living room so that it doesn't look like a football stadium. However, if you prefer bright light, let Sophia know and she will let you screw the bulb back in. Or on the first floor you can do it yourself. The small lamp in the kitchen and the fairy lights must be charged with USB when they are no longer lit. Adapter: You can borrow from Sophia. We have one European for each of you. Bicycles: Each apartment has one bike each. You are welcome to use it for a deposit of €100. In the village, there are plenty of bike, moped and car rental companies. A bike is actually enough here, and for longer distances we recommend tuk-tuks. The driver we trust is called Simey. Sophia has the number. Doctors, pharmacy: A dentist is next door, two clinics (private) can be found in the village, and three pharmacies are also in the village. Restaurants: We love the Sol de Caribe on the white Cocles beach, 7 minutes by bike, best Caribbean cuisine, fish, meat, vegan. Then there is Roots in the center by the sea, if it's only healthy/vegan and delicious, El Sendero nearby directly by the sea, with your feet in the sand and very very delicious. Cocktail happy hours are available almost everywhere. You can experience a piece of sunset at the Tiki Bar in the center. Rain: In case of rain, please bring the blankets and pillows towards the middle of the terrace and clamp the outer curtains upwards under the curtain rods or already in the evening when rain is expected at night. Cockroaches & ants: We don't have them, and to keep it that way, there is an organic waste container, firmly lockable, in which you please collect ALL organic matter. There is a compost heap in the garden. Sophia will show you where. The tiny, somewhat aimless mini ants do nothing and are also allowed in the house. If a cockroach does show up, that's Pablo. He gets lost sometimes, belongs to Sophia and you just throw him in the garden. His buddy Pablito could also be on tour... Floor/ceiling: The building regulations in Costa Rica require earthquake-proof construction, which means that the upper floor, which is the ceiling for the residents below, swings and walking noises are not entirely avoidable despite footfall sound insulation. Therefore, it would be super nice if you tread lightly upstairs in case someone is living below. Sea, beach: So now: On to the black, wild Playa Negra or to the kilometers of light sandy beaches Cocles, Chiquita, Punta Uva and PURA VIDA! PS: Here you can either surf or swim. The sea can be inviting and quiet, but also very wild.
