A suite in a farmhouse renovated for tourism, preserving the original charm of a traditional Sintra home, is ideally located near Sintra's attractions and amenities. It is perfect for couples, and solo travelers seeking a memorable and relaxed vacation. Surrounded by a tranquil garden setting, the house balances peaceful greenery with urban life. The space The suite is accessed from inside the house, via a private corridor that separates it from the shared spaces, ensuring complete privacy and tranquility. The suite features an open layout with a kitchen, a dining table, and a private bathroom. This suite features a unique 100-year-old bathroom that we’ve carefully preserved to maintain its original charm. Take a moment to appreciate the authentic Portuguese tiles—while they may seem similar at first glance, each one is hand-painted, adding to their timeless beauty. Tilework is deeply embedded in Portuguese culture, and we’re proud to have our original bathroom, a true symbol of nobility from Portugal’s past. Guest access This suite is one of five within the guesthouse. The entrance to the suite is located inside the building. Guests in all five suites share several communal areas, including a dining hall with a long table. This space is perfect for both dining and working, and we encourage all guests to utilize it. There is a coffee and water station available, as well as a printer for your convenience. The table can accommodate up to eighteen guests, making it ideal for multi-generational families and large groups. We also offer a shared living room featuring various seating arrangements and a cozy fireplace. Additionally, guests are welcome to explore our special garden, which includes trees that are over a hundred years old. Other things to note Parking: Enjoy convenient on-premises parking with a remote control for the automatic gate. Supermarket: The supermarket is conveniently located just a short walk from our house, on the same sidewalk and side of the street, making it easy to access without needing to cross the road. They’re open daily from 08:00 to 21:00 and offer fresh pastries in the morning. Transportation: Whether you are driving, using Uber, or taking public transportation, getting around from the farmhouse is quick and easy. If you’re renting a car, you’ll find short drives convenient, with free on-site parking available. We are located at the foot of Sintra Mountain, where the streets are still wide with two-way lanes. It takes about 15 minutes by car to reach the main attractions at the top of the mountain. Sintra Mountain and the Palaces: Parking and navigating around the main palaces on the Sintra mountain can be challenging. We advise guests to leave their car here and take an Uber. It will only cost a few euros and save you considerable time. The road on the Sintra mountain is one-way, so if you miss a turn, you’ll have to drive all the way back to the start—something we don’t recommend. Lisbon: There are a few ways to reach Lisbon from the house. By car, we can recommend parking locations in the city. Uber is also an option—it’s safe, affordable, and readily available. For public transportation, there are a couple of choices. Just outside our gate, there’s a bus stop where you can catch buses 1623 or 1629, which will take you to the Sintra train station in about 10 minutes. From there, you can catch a train to Lisbon. Another option is to take an Uber to Cascais and then a train from there to Lisbon. Note that the two train routes go to different parts of the city. A book with our recommendations is waiting for you in the house, and we are always happy to help with more ideas for places to visit. Cascais: The best way to get to Cascais is by Uber or car, and we can suggest parking options right in the center. Penha Longa Resort: The resort is just a 5-minute drive from our home, accessible by Uber or car. The Garden: The house offers the tranquility of a rural garden setting while also enjoying the vibrancy of urban life. It is not isolated in the countryside but rather surrounded by both lively urban experiences and peaceful greenery. LAUNDRY: Stay with us for four nights or more and enjoy complimentary access to our laundry room, equipped with both a washer and a dryer.
