Our small cabin features an open-concept area with floor-to-ceiling windows, which frame the mountains. The kitchen is well-stocked for cooking, while the cozy bedroom and sleeping loft offer retreats after a day of adventure. Whether you're a seasoned hiker, a winter sports enthusiast, or simply looking to relax, our cabin is the ideal basecamp! The space This is our family cabin where we escape the summer heat and hustle and bustle of the city. We are excited to share the cabin with you in hopes that you will be able to take a deep breath and disconnect from your daily routine. The cabin is conveniently situated ~5 minutes from the town of Empire, and provides a great basecamp location for easy access to Idaho Springs, Georgetown, Winter Park, or Summit County! Come enjoy the beautiful views and fresh mountain air of Colorado summers or a short drive to world-class skiing in the winter. It's important to note that while our cabin is close to modern conveniences, it is reliant on well water, a septic system, and Skylink internet. So, that may mean there are times when water pressure way be slightly low or the internet may be interrupted by afternoon storms. Please note, the cabin does NOT have AC. However, it is designed to have a nice cross breeze during the day and is a high-efficiency build, so it should stay nice and cool. We hope you'll come enjoy our secluded hideaway and enjoy a moment away from the city! Guest access Guests will have full access to the property. Much of the surrounding forest and trails are part of the National Forest. Please treat the land with respect and abide by any private property signs posted. Other things to note Please note, a vehicle with high clearance is REQUIRED for access year round, and you MUST have 4WD or All-Wheel drive (with good snow tires or snow chains) for winter months. We want to ensure you (and your vehicle) are safe, so if you have any questions regarding access or don't feel comfortable navigating winter driving conditions please let us know. The county does an excellent job in plowing and maintaining the main roads, and we have a reliable plow service but plowing isn’t immediate, we are on the rotation after snowfall is 4 inches. Please plan accordingly. The cabin is also reliant on well water, which can sometimes give off a sulfuric odor. While it is safe to drink (we have had it extensively tested and treated), we have installed a reverse osmosis system for ultra-filtered drinking water. We do rely on Starlink (satellite) WiFi, so it can experience slowness or interruption during storms (especially snow storms).
