Ask us about available classes and fees. The space Historical Review The house is located on land that, around 1850, was part of the Circo de las Carreras, the city's first racecourse. In 1886, due to the decline in equestrian activity, the Municipality of Belgrano ordered the division and subdivision of the property. In 1910, Dr. Manet, a railway official known at that time as "Poblador", began construction of the house. In 1912, he returned to France and sold the property to the McLean family, who decided to expand the building. In 1995, architect Edgardo Rodríguez acquired the property and, together with his children Dagoberto and Solange, transformed it into a cultural center under the name Palacio de las Artes. In 2001, during the extension of the basement, a cistern was discovered. Archaeologists from the UBA concluded that it probably belonged to an old post linked to Juan Manuel de Rosas. Today, the building houses a site museum with the objects found during that excavation. By decision of the Rodríguez family, the building has a level of precautionary protection as a Historic Building. For 23 years, the house remained open to the public and hosted countless art exhibitions, cultural encounters, gastronomic experiences, and projects related to design and creativity. Today, Casa Palacio reopens its doors in a different way: offering the possibility of inhabiting it and being part of its history, surrounded by works created by the architect and artist Edgardo Rodríguez.
