Owl Farmhouse is a traditional 19th-Century French Farmhouse, it is peaceful, quiet and perfect for rest and relaxation. Local amenities: Ahun (5 km) and Guéret (14 km). Downstairs : Fully equipped kitchen (with complementary coffee, tea, sugar & hot chocolate), a dining table with seating for 8, sitting room for 8, bedroom area with double bed, shower room and toilet - all accessible. Upstairs 2 double bedrooms, 1 twin and bathroom. All bedding and towels are provided for your stay. The space Charming 19th-Century French Farmhouse in Tranquil Hamlet. New for 2025. The property has been upgraded for 2025 with all feedback from the first year (2024) addressed. There are now shutters on the bedroom windows in the front and a blackout curtain in the single room. The beds have been changed and there are new mattresses, the host is now doing the cleaning personally and is on hand to clean mid stay if you’re staying more than a week. In the kitchen, the fridge freezer has been upgraded to full size and there is also now a full size dishwasher. Outside a fence has been erected for better security and privacy. Location: Nestled in a serene hamlet with just four occupied houses and surrounded by scenic countryside, this traditional French farmhouse offers a peaceful retreat. The nearest town, Ahun, is 5 km away, providing essential amenities like a boulangerie and supermarket. For a broader selection of supermarkets, fuel, and shops, Guéret is just 14 km away. Ground Floor: The ground floor includes a fully equipped kitchen with a dining table that seats 8, perfect for family meals and casual gatherings. The cozy sitting room offers a comfortable leather couch, chair, a second sofa and TV for relaxation. An accessible double bedroom off the sitting room ensures convenience, leading to a toilet with an adult booster seat if needed. The shower room features a large walk-in shower, wash basin, chair, and a washing machine, with grab handles in the shower room, shower, and toilet for added safety. Upstairs: Upstairs, you'll find three well-appointed bedrooms: two doubles and one twin, providing ample space for families or groups. The bathroom is equipped with an over-bath shower, toilet, wash basin, and bidet, ensuring all the comforts of home. Outdoor Space: The outdoor area is designed for relaxation and enjoyment. The patio area includes a table, chairs, pergola, and an outdoor rug, creating a pleasant dining space in an enclosed fenced yard. The garden to the side of the house features a small decked area with chairs, perfect for enjoying the fresh air. A large barn is accessible for parking cars, motorbikes, or bicycles, offering both shade and security. Accessibility: The farmhouse has been renovated with accessibility in mind, featuring no steps to enter the house. The front door is 74 cm wide, while the kitchen and lounge doors are 78 cm wide. The toilet door is 70 cm wide, and the shower room door is 74 cm wide, all facilities are accessible on the ground floor. Additional Information: Children: Whilst children are allowed, please note there are no special facilities provided for children. If they are too young to use adult drinking glasses, utensils, chairs, stairs etc, then you will need to bring any extras you need for your children to be comfortable. Please also note that it is a quiet hamlet, so children do need to respect the peace and quiet that is offered for everyone in Gouges. Pets: Friendly dogs are welcome at the farmhouse (no cats). However, it's important to note that Marley lives right next door (hence no cats), he is very friendly, but would appreciate it if you only bring your dog if they are friendly. As the area is a farming community with livestock, pets must be kept under control to ensure their safety and the safety of the animals. You must not leave your dogs alone in the property. Guest access You have the whole house, in the corner is the host’s cottage where she lives with Marley the dog. Other things to note Marley the Doberman lives next door, you are separated by a fence. He is very friendly to people and other dogs and will need to say hello.
