1780s Barn, Fire Pit, Great Room | Hudson Retreat
1780s Barn, Fire Pit, Great Room | Hudson Retreat
Description
"Walking into this updated and fully renovated 250 year old barn took our breath away. This place was meticulously designed." That's what a guest said about our 1780s barn in Claverack, an upstate escape near Hudson. Your group gathers in our great room under a 40ft stone fireplace and hand-hewn beams. Mornings, coffee over the acreage; nights, fire pit and stargazing. Sleeps ten over three levels: chef's kitchen, media room, library. Tesla charger, 38 acres removed from the hustle and bustle. The space Close to downtown Hudson but removed from the hustle and bustle, our hand-hewn 1780s barn sits on 38 acres of untouched land. We've been Superhosts here for over a decade, a Guest Favourite with dozens of five-star stays from reunions, weddings, and multigenerational holidays. Reimagined across three open levels, the barn pairs historical charm with modern comfort: a chef's kitchen, a great room built for gathering, and acres of upstate wilderness right outside the door. Inside, three open levels center on a great room that flows straight into the chef's kitchen and a formal dining room with a piano and a hidden bar, so the group stays together while someone cooks, and the table extends to seat up to ten. Five bedrooms are spread across the barn: two with king beds, two with queens, and a flexible room with a sofa bed. A library loft of over a thousand books overlooks the great room, and a media room sits just off it for movie nights. Our two third-floor lofts are kept off-limits, so every space you'll use opens off the main levels. The great room is the heart of the barn. A massive internal stone fireplace climbs 40 feet to the roof, framed by hand-hewn beams and a wall of windows onto the acreage, with sliding doors out to the back deck. Eclectic modern furnishings, a blend of local antique, Scandinavian, and Hollywood Regency, fill the open space, and because the kitchen and dining sit right there, cooking, eating, and gathering all happen in one room. When everyone wants to spread out, the media room's big screen handles movie nights and the library wall invites a slow afternoon with a book. It's the room guests remember most, where families spend hours by the fire, laughing and playing games.
