The space This traditional 4 bedroom coral rendered Caribbean villa is located close to beautiful Accra Beach and St Lawerance Gap on the south coast of Barbados. It is finished to a very high standard with a large open planned Italian kitchen with granite work tops and a unique architect designed central island, fitted GE Profile appliances, a 40 foot living area with wall with mounted plasma screen and comes fully furnished with high end contemporary furniture. The villa is private and secure ( high walled and fenced) in a residential neighbourhood only a few minutes walk from all amenities, beaches and Rockley golf course, supermarkets and shops. Please note we have outside security cameras at the front and back of the property. This house is beautifully decorated and furnished and surrounded by beautiful lush tropical vegetation. Guest access You will have access to the whole property. We usually do an in-person check-in /check-out but also have a lock box. we have a maximum of two sets of keys and one gate fob. We have a safe in one of the bedrooms. We have external security cameras at the front and back of the property. Other things to note All beaches in Barbados are public. The South Coast beaches listed below are family-friendly, though they may experience more sizable waves and strong currents compared with the calmer West Coast. Swimming on the East Coast is not recommended, but it’s definitely worth visiting for its wild beauty. The closest beach is Worthing Beach, accessible by walking to the end of Garden Road, turning left, and crossing the coast road near the bus stop. A small alley leads directly to the beach. It is quite popular for sunset watching but has no facilities. A 5-minute walk away is Accra/Rockley Beach, found by turning right at the coast road. Accra is our favourite beach, offering a sheltered cove at one end ideal for paddling, as well as lively waves for wave diving or boogie boarding in the centre. There is an artificial reef marked by two posts about 100m offshore that many people swim out to. Avoid swimming close to the Boardwalk as the current there is strong. You can rent chairs at the Tiki Bar or from local vendors further up the beach. Drinks, food, showers, and WC facilities are available here and local food trucks come to the car park each lunchtime in addition to the vendors permanently there. Across the road, you’ll find Chefette (the Bajan McDonald’s) with a soft play area for children over 5 and superpowered AC. Accra is also the starting point of the Richard Haynes Boardwalk, a scenic coastal walk stretching about 1 kilometer. The Boardwalk is a must do, either early in the morning (it gets hot after 7.30, so one for early risers!) or at sunset. There are plenty of beach bars serving food and drinks along the Boardwalk as well as a few restaurants and cafes. A 5–10-minute drive away is Pebbles Beach, another family favourite. This beach offers chair rentals, showers, and WC facilities. For $170 BBD, you can purchase short-term membership at the Barbados Cruising Club, which includes paddleboard and kayak rentals for exploring Carlisle Bay. At sunrise, you’ll often see the island’s racehorses taking their morning swim—a really unique experience. The Pebbles Beach car park is also home to Cuz’s Fish Stand, known for its iconic flying fish cutters, which live up to their fame and are delicious. Carlisle Bay is an impressive crescent-shaped beach stretching from the Barbados Yacht Club in the south to Bridgetown’s port in the north. It’s perfect for swimming, running, and snorkeling among the shipwrecks scattered along the bay. You can relax at Pebbles Beach, swim under the Radisson bridge, or paddleboard to explore the bay on your own. Several beach bars line the stretch, including the popular Boatyard, a hit with older kids and teenagers. The entry fee includes chairs, a water obstacle course, lunch, and a snorkeling trip to see turtles. Hilton Beach/Needham’s Point is another delightful spot just south of Pebbles Beach. Be sure to visit Charles Fort at sunset for a memorable experience. Further south, Drill Hall Beach offers a quieter, wilder setting with shaded areas and surfboard rentals. Things to do Surf - Barry's Surf School in St Lawrence Gap is great. No experience required, the teachers are really patient and actually explain technique well which helps. Also excellent if you are an improver. We use Barbados Dive based at the Hilton on Carlisle Bay for scuba diving. They truly 5 star. They handle your first resort dive or free diving effortlessly. Gym - Thrive Fitness is walkable from the house (opposite the Tiki Bar) and does temporary passes at a reasonable price. It's air conditioned, well stocked with the basics for functional fitness training and cardio and is there is 24/7 access. Get in touch with the owner Kristina prior to arrival to arrange. Drive in cinema - a short drive from the house there is the Globe drive in cinem, which is a proper old school drive in. It's a great evening out, perhaps with a Chefette. Boat trip - there are a number of catamaran cruises from Bridgetown up the west coast, typically involving a Bajan lunch, snorkelling with turtles and shipwrecks and a stop to allow for a swim to the beach. We like Silver Moon for its smaller size and exclusivity but the bigger boats can be a lot of fun too, with a real party atmosphere. National museum & Garrison - a small museum easy to visit from the house (5-10 min drive) and a good way to get a quick hit of Bajan history. Directly next to the Garrison, the race track, which is also a morning and evening running spot for locals. East Coast - a day or two on the East Coast is worth it. The drive itself is scenic, and Bathsheba and the coast line are spectacular. Lunch is excellent at the Eco Lodge, Roundhouse or (on a Sunday) Atlantis hotels. Would combine with a trip to any of the following: - Coco Hill Forest, a regenerative forest, one of the few spots on the island that hasn't been transformed by agriculture - Welchman Hall Gully, a limestone gully with monkeys and incredible plants - St Nicholas Abbey plantation, which has a classic train ride and a rum distillery tour available - Any of the gardens (Andromeda, Huntes) - Animal Flower Cave (North Point, 45 minutes+ drive), a beautiful cave and restaurant at the northernmost point of the island Food Supermarkets & markets Massey is less than 5 minutes walk away from Bajan Blue and is well stocked with the essentials. There is an excellent smaller speciality market called Clifton Market just up the coast road that sells a wide variety of international and local fresh and packaged items. Every Saturday there is a market at Brighton Market in the interior of the island. It is nice to have a scenic drive and have a croissant and coffee while people watching and shopping for gifts. Casual ArtSplash is a sweet local cafe near the Hastings bandstand and does good breakfast and brunch. The Park Cafe is nestled behind the house in Peronne Village and there is also an excellent French bakery called La Baguette opposite Massey. There is a smoothie bar, an ice cream shop and several casual restaurants in the Quayside Shopping Centre opposite the Accra hotel. Chefette does a Bajan version of KFC and also sells good rotis. There are also roti sellers up and down the coast road. The Boardwalk has a number of informal beach bars selling jerk chicken, fish cakes and similar. There are a few restaurants - Tapas is the best and is lovely for lunch or dinner. Salt Cafe does takeaway - it's fresh, healthy food and would recommend! No trip would be complete without visiting the fish bars at Oistins, which is a short drive down the coast road. Friday nights are the busiest, with a real atmosphere from around 6pm. Other casual dining options include: - Carib Beach Bar (5 mins drive) - Surfers Bay Beach Bar (20 mins drive) - Lemongrass (3 mins drive) for Thai Smarter Barbados has a more formal food scene too, with plenty of high quality and high end restaurants across the island. We would recommend Champers, a local staple, which is just across the road from the house. We've also heard good things about La Cabane.
