Granny's Cottage -AtTheDairyShed

Situated on a farm in a beautiful green valley 12km outside of the agricultural town of Heidelberg (Western Cape), this old Tractor barn has been renovated and converted into a home for the farm owners mother, and is available to rent at only certain times of the year. The cottage has beautiful mountain and farm views from almost every room and is tastefully decorated, allowing guests to enjoy "farm-life" in style. The space Granny's Cottage has an open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area. As it is someone's home most of the year, it is fully equipped and makes it the ideal, home-away-from home. There are two bedrooms. The main bedroom, is on the lower level with a queen size bed, cotton sheets and a full bathroom en-suite. The second bedroom is in the loft area and has a double bed, with cotton sheets. There is no en-suite, but there is a bathroom with shower at the bottom of the staircase. Granny's cottage is fully fenced in and there is parking available in the yard. Guest access The farm can be explored on foot or on ones own mountain bike. There is quite a lot of birdlife and while you will see birds at the cottage, the ravine is a good place to see more of them. Hiking is also an option on the farm with a few clear paths to follow. As the farm is not flat, we suggest collecting a two way radio before going on your walk to ensure that you are able to contact us should you need any help. The farm borders a river and swimming is the river is permitted. The river has varying depths and brown water. One can not easily see the bottom unless the sun is shining directly on the water, so diving it not permitted and caution needs to be taken when getting in and out of the water due to loose rocks. Other things to note Please note that our water is pumped up from the river. The water in the taps is filtered from the river and is clean, but brown. The water is safe to drink, wash and shower in. If you prefer white water for drinking we can supply you with rain water from our tank, or if you prefer you can bring your own bottled water. We will however supply you some filtered white water for drinking. The farm is 12km out of town. The road from town starts off as a tar road, and later becomes a scenic gravel road. Please be aware of "cow traffic".
