Our Alaskan log house is perfect for a small family, couple or two couples traveling together. There is a fully set up kitchen for cooking including a refrigerator, electricity 24/7, gas grill on the large deck and a roomy private bathroom. The house has one bedroom with a queen bed and a queen size sleeper sofa in the living room area. Each guest house is screened by natural vegetation for privacy but retains beautiful view to the surrounding mountains. The Chitina is a lovely, custom designed and built Alaskan log house. The house is fully contemporary with power 24/7, hot and cold running water, private bathroom with tub and shower, full kitchen with all the pots and pans and utensils all provided. Additionally, there is a gas grill supplied out on the spacious deck where you'll be able to enjoy the views while grilling. There is also a table and chairs set on the deck for outdoor dining, relaxing or enjoying a beverage while enjoying the views. We have a total of 6 guest houses and you'll have to check in at the office to get the keys for your accommodations. We also have a large grass yard with toys, balls, frisbees, etc. for guests to use if they have energy after a full day of hiking around the area. Generally, there is Cynthia, Andy or our sons around the office or business all of the time. We also have employees that are available during the day, mostly, if you need any assistance. You can always call us by phone, non-AT&T carriers only work in our area, if you need anything day or night. Currant Ridge is a 6 guest house lodging business located at Mile 56.7 of the McCarthy Road. We are located approximately 2.5 miles from the end of the road where everyone has to park since there is no public driving bridge over the Kennicott River to access McCarthy and Kennecott. All of our guest houses are drive up access so there is no need to carry your bags over the bridge or take a shuttle van to your house. All of our guests have to make the drive from Chitina, Glennallen or beyond to get to our location. We do not provide any shuttle service from our houses to the end of the road. We can help you decide what activities to enjoy and where to hike while staying with us at Currant Ridge. Additionally, our 2 large greenhouses provide lots of fresh veggies for us and our guests to pick fresh and eat while they are staying with us. We love to meet everyone and spend some time with as many visitors as possible. We produce all of our electricity with solar panels and store the energy in an industrial battery bank. You should expect unlimited power for charging your devices while visiting us. There are no irons, hair dryers, toasters or other electric appliances though. This helps us to conserve our electricity since we are fully off the grid. We recycle all glass, aluminum and burnable products. All organic food scraps are fed to our chickens so that we can get manure from them and get rid of smelly food wastes. We appreciate your help in sorting the recyclables in the handy, in-house containers provided.
