The fine white sand with gentle sloping shores make this coast particularly appealing for families with children. Just 10 minutes away is the charming town of Nardo, with its Baroque squares and winding streets, which have yet to be overwhelmed by tourists. It is a food paradise and has many excellent restaurants serving fresh local food. Further down the Ionian coast, the historic town of Gallipoli (15 minutes) is a very popular tourist destination during the summer months. In Greek, Gallipoli means “beautiful city” and the town does not disappoint. The town’s ancient walls soar over the harbour and fishing port. There are many excellent restaurants in the town, serving the freshest catch of the day. It makes a fascinating day out. The closest airport is at Brindisi - just under an hour away by car.
