Town: Dalswinton is a small village in the Dumfries and Galloway region of southern Scotland and is located just seven miles north of the county town of Dumfries. The River Nith runs through Dalswinton and the village is also home to a couple of small lochs. On the opposite bank of the river is Charles Jencks magnificent Garden of Cosmic Speculation, which normally opens to the public on just one day of the year. Dumfries is known as the Queen of the South and has history dating back to Roman times. Today it is home to a wide range of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants, as well as a number of traditional festivals throughout the year. To the south of Dumfries is beautiful coastline leading to Gatehouse of Fleet and Newton Stewart, whilst the Galloway Forest Park is just an hour’s drive to the west.
