This idyllic, dog-friendly hideaway offers the perfect blend of countryside charm, comfort and easy access to nature. Located in the heart of Exmoor, a ten minute walk along a bridleway to Wheddon Cross which has a welcoming pub, petrol station and shop. Local landmarks include Dunkery Beacon, Dunster medieval village, Tarr Steps and Porlock.We also have dozens of hens, some Silver Appleyard ducklings and three pygmy goats trotting about the farm! The space Quarme Cottage can accommodate up to 6 people, ideally 4 adults or a family of 5/6- with a double bedroom, twin bedroom and downstairs bedroom with bunk beds. There is plenty of free parking, and a brace of EV Chargers. Enjoy a complimentary Cream Tea on arrival! Quarme Cottage boasts a captivating south-facing view down the Quarme Valley. There's an open-plan living/dining/kitchen area and a secure garden equipped with outdoor furniture. In front of the cottage there's a vast grassy space nestling beneath a majestic beech tree, offering sweeping countryside vistas, space to run around and play. The lounge has twin three-seater sofas, an extendable dining table for six, a 32inch TV with Freeview and DVD player. A fireplace with an electric cast iron stove and dual radiators warm the space. The bunk bedroom is accessible from the lounge; this cozy room contains full-size bunk beds, ideal for children, and is heated by a radiator. The kitchen is modern and well-equipped; includes a dishwasher, fridge, standalone freezer, washing machine, microwave, electric hob and oven. Generously stocked with china and cookware alongside Tetley tea, Nescafe Gold Blend coffee, sugar, and a selection of Pukka Herbal Teas. We also supply half a dozen eggs from our very own chickens (when laying). Essentials like tea towels, cleaning supplies and washing powder are provided. Up on the first floor, you’ll find the double and twin bedrooms, both furnished with comfy beds draped in fresh cotton linens. Both rooms, the corridor, and the bathroom are heated. The bathroom comprises a bath with an overhead shower, with towels and loo rolls provided. We also provide hand soap, shower gel, shampoo, and moisturiser from Tynham Luxury. While the cottage can sleep six, its single bathroom makes it most comfortable for families, as six adults might find it a bit cramped. All guests are provided with a mobile app which gives full information about Little Quarme, optional items that we can provide and recommendations for places to visit, local pubs and restaurants etc. The cottage benefits from gas central heating throughout. Wi-fi is available throughout the cottage and in the nearby barn/games room, and we have just had superfast Starlink internet installed. Our nightly price decreases for the longer you stay - Little Quarme Farm is the perfect base to explore all of Exmoor, as well as much of Devon and Somerset, and makes a blissful week or two away to truly unwind. Guest access All guests have access to over two acres of landscaped garden, which has numerous secluded seating areas and a beautiful pond (children must be supervised at all times around the pond). There is also a giant BBQ which guests are welcome to use, and we can supply tinder, charcoal, and BBQ utensils at extra cost. In addition we have eighteen acres of fields - we have goats and chickens roaming in some of them, but guests are welcome to explore - just ask us in advance to we can provide updated information livestock and access. We also have an events barn with comfy sofas, full size ping pong table, along with table football, a mini pool table, and dozens of board games. Occasionally the barn is reserved for private events - we are a licensed wedding venue and also offer catered and uncatered dinner party hire, and daytime hire for corporate and social events. We have a pair of EV Chargers, one tethered, in the upper car park - these supply up to 7.5KW of power and are managed by the Voltshare App. We have two car parks and an overflow parking field - for Quarme cottage we recommend guests use the lower car park, unless they need to use the EV Chargers in the upper car park. Our cottages sit at the head of the Quarme Valley with stunning southerly views across the Exmoor countryside. You will be spoilt for choice with lots of beautiful local walks through woods, open moorland and fields. Views from Dunkery Beacon (the highest point on Exmoor and just a few miles on foot or by car from Little Quarme) stretch to Dartmoor in the south, Hinkley Point in the east and even the Brecon Beacons in Wales on a very clear day. Dogs are very welcome at Little Quarme- if you have any questions regarding bringing your dogs, please get in touch. We charge £5 per dog per stay and provide a goody box with water bowl, poo bags, treats, toys, towels, furniture blankets, and collar tags with our details. We have two EV chargers, one of which is tethered in case you forget your charging cable. Our Games Barn is normally available to guests - it features table football, pool, ping pong, board games, and a sun deck. It is also available to hire for workshops, dinner parties, anniversaries, and wedding ceremonies. Wheddon Cross is a village in the parish of Cutcombe in the heart of Exmoor, based around the crossroads; the roads run from north to south between Minehead and Dulverton, and east to west between Taunton and North Devon. The village is argued to be the highest on Exmoor, standing at 980 feet above sea level, and the highest point on Exmoor, Dunkery Beacon (1704 feet above sea level) is the focal point of the village. Dunkery Beacon is about three miles from the village, there are fantastic panoramic views from Dunkery; wild moorland to the west, the Bristol Channel and Wales to the north, the rolling Brendon Hills to the east and the Quarme Valley to the south. In recent years the village has become famous for the abundance of snowdrops in the nearby valley which has become known as 'Snowdrop Valley'. The snowdrops bloom around February and is often referred to as a "carpet of snowdrops"! Wheddon Cross is surrounded by beautiful countryside; open moorland, wooded valleys and farmland. An abundance of wildlife can often be seen, including Exmoor ponies and red deer. There are a number of great walks along marked footpaths and bridleways, including the famous Coleridge Way which passes through. Wheddon Cross is a thriving community and offers many local services for a small village. The village shop is a well-stocked mini-supermarket incorporating a Post Office counter, petrol pumps, cash point machine and has good opening hours. The Rest & Be Thankful Inn is the village pub which serves food and is child and dog friendly. The village also has a first school, church, playing field, public conveniences, and various bus services. Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 9 miles away. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town), high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops, cafes and restaurants, etc throughout the town.
