Tucked away in the heart of Exmoor near Wheddon Cross, Winsford Cottage is one of six dog friendly holiday cottages converted from traditional farm buildings. 10mins walk from Wheddon Cross (pub, shop, and petrol station), with home comforts like superfast Wi-Fi & EV Chargers. It’s the perfect base for couples seeking a truly restorative escape, and we have hens, ducks, and three pygmy goats all trotting about the farm. The space Winsford Cottage is a single-story cottage suitable for up to 2 guests. It has recently benefited from a full redecoration. Enjoy a complimentary Cream Tea on arrival! Winsford Cottage offers a charming single-level retreat with east and west-facing views. It's snug and welcoming with a lovely outlook over the grounds. There’s a small, sunny cottage-style garden facing east and south with garden furniture and views across the Little Quarme gardens. The lounge area has a comfy sofa and armchair, dining table with 2 chairs, a 32inch TV equipped with Freeview and DVD player, a classic stone fireplace with an electric log effect fire. There is also a broad selection of books and DVDs, and we have recently had Starlink superfast internet installed. The kitchen is fully stocked with modern appliances including a microwave, electric cooker, and fridge with a small freezer compartment. It also has a kettle, toaster, Yorkshire tea, Nescafe Gold Blend coffee, a selection of Pukka herbal teas, and sugar plus a sufficient array of china, cookware, and utensils. We provide tea towels, washing up liquid and a surface cleaner for your convenience. When our hens are laying, we provide half a dozen fresh eggs for you too. The en-suite double bedroom is set with cotton bed linens. There are also flexible reading lights and USB phone charging ports at both sides of the bed. The en-suite comes with a small bath, overhead shower and is equipped with super fluffy towels from The White Company. Loo rolls etc are also supplied. We have hand soap, moisturiser, shower gel, and shampoo from Tyneham Luxury. There are radiators throughout the cottage. Parking is conveniently located just a short walk away up or down a short flight of steps. We have two EV chargers for all guests to use, one tethered, one un-tethered. The cottage benefits from gas central heating throughout. WiFi is available inside the cottage and in the adjacent barn. All guests are provided with an online app which gives full information about Little Quarme, optional items that we can provide and recommendations for places to visit, local pubs and restaurants etc. Our nightly price decreases for the longer you stay - Little Quarme Farm is the perfect base to explore all of Exmoor, as well as much of Devon and Somerset, and makes a blissful week or two away to truly unwind. Guest access All guests have access to over two acres of landscaped garden, which has numerous secluded seating areas and a beautiful pond (children must be supervised at all times around the pond). There is also a giant BBQ which guests are welcome to use, and we can supply tinder, charcoal, and BBQ utensils at extra cost. In addition we have eighteen acres of fields - we have goats and chickens roaming in some of them, but guests are welcome to explore - just ask us in advance to we can provide updated information livestock and access. We also have an events barn with comfy sofas, full size ping pong table, along with table football, a mini pool table, and dozens of board games. Occasionally the barn is reserved for private events - we are a licensed wedding venue and also offer catered and uncatered dinner party hire, and daytime hire for corporate and social events. We have a pair of EV Chargers, one tethered, in the upper car park - these supply up to 7.5KW of power and are managed by the Voltshare App. We have two car parks and an overflow parking field - for Winsford cottage we recommend guests use the upper car park. When not using the EV Chargers, we ask that guests park away from them to give others space to charge. Our cottages sit at the head of the Quarme Valley with stunning southerly views across the Exmoor countryside. You will be spoilt for choice with lots of beautiful local walks through woods, open moorland and fields. Views from Dunkery Beacon (the highest point on Exmoor and just a few miles on foot or by car from Little Quarme) stretch to Dartmoor in the south, Hinkley Point in the east and even the Brecon Beacons in Wales on a very clear day. Dogs are very welcome at Little Quarme- if you have any questions regarding bringing your dogs, please get in touch. We charge £5 per dog per stay and provide a goody box with water bowl, poo bags, treats, toys, towels, furniture blankets, and collar tags with our details. We have two EV chargers, one of which is tethered in case you forget your charging cable. Our Games Barn is normally available to guests - it features table football, pool, ping pong, board games, and a sun deck. It is also available to hire for workshops, dinner parties, anniversaries, and wedding ceremonies. Wheddon Cross is a village in the parish of Cutcombe in the heart of Exmoor, based around the crossroads; the roads run from north to south between Minehead and Dulverton, and east to west between Taunton and North Devon. The village is argued to be the highest on Exmoor, standing at 980 feet above sea level, and the highest point on Exmoor, Dunkery Beacon (1704 feet above sea level) is the focal point of the village. Dunkery Beacon is about three miles from the village, there are fantastic panoramic views from Dunkery; wild moorland to the west, the Bristol Channel and Wales to the north, the rolling Brendon Hills to the east and the Quarme Valley to the south. In recent years the village has become famous for the abundance of snowdrops in the nearby valley which has become known as 'Snowdrop Valley'. The snowdrops bloom around February and is often referred to as a "carpet of snowdrops"! Wheddon Cross is surrounded by beautiful countryside; open moorland, wooded valleys and farmland. An abundance of wildlife can often be seen, including Exmoor ponies and red deer. There are a number of great walks along marked footpaths and bridleways, including the famous Coleridge Way which passes through. Wheddon Cross is a thriving community and offers many local services for a small village. The village shop is a well-stocked mini-supermarket incorporating a Post Office counter, petrol pumps, cash point machine and has good opening hours. The Rest & Be Thankful Inn is the village pub which serves food and is child and dog friendly. The village also has a first school, church, playing field, public conveniences, and various bus services. Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 9 miles away. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town), high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops, cafes and restaurants, etc throughout the town.
