Tucked away in the heart of Exmoor near Wheddon Cross, Stable Cottage is one of six dog friendly holiday cottages converted from traditional Exmoor farm buildings. 10mins bridleway walk from Wheddon Cross which has a great pub, shop, Post Office, and petrol station. It’s the perfect base for couples, small families or friends seeking a truly restorative escape near Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor - with added luxuries like superfast Starlink Wi-Fi and EV Chargers. The space Stable Cottage accommodates up to 4 guests, with a double bedroom and the option of either a King-size bed or a pair of singles in the second bedroom (please let us know which you'd prefer when booking). Stable Cottage enjoys south and east-facing views across the gardens from the lounge and double bedroom. As the most spacious of our cottages it's the one to book if you have multiple dogs! There's a secure patio with outdoor furniture. Parking is accessible via a flight of steps adjacent to the cottage, and their are a brace of EV Chargers guests can use. Enjoy a complimentary Cream Tea on arrival! The lounge features one three seater and one two seater sofa, a 40inch TV with Freeview and DVD player, a rustic pine dining table with 4 chairs and a stone fireplace with an electric log-imitation fire complemented by two radiators. The kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, microwave, and electric stove plus a selection of pots and pans. It's stocked with kitchen essentials including cleaning supplies. Yorkshire Tea, Nescafe Gold Blend coffee and sugar are provided, along with a selection of Pukka Herbal Teas, and half a dozen eggs from our very own chickens (when laying). On the first floor, you’ll find a spacious double room with a king bed and a twin/king bedroom (please let us know which set up you would prefer when booking). Beds are made up with crisp, cotton bedlinen. There are radiators in each bedroom. The bathroom is equipped with a bath with an overhead shower and stocked with White Company towels and Soap, Shower Gel, Shampoo, and moisturizer from Tynham Luxury. The cottage benefits from gas central heating throughout. WiFi is available inside the cottage and in the barn/games room. All guests are provided with an online app which gives full information about Little Quarme, optional items that we can provide and our recommendations for places to visit, local pubs and restaurants etc. Our nightly price decreases for the longer you stay - Little Quarme Farm is the perfect base to explore all of Exmoor, as well as much of Devon and Somerset, and makes a blissful week or two away to truly unwind. NB: We can supply High Chairs, Travel Cots, and Changing Mats for children on request at no extra charge - please let us know if you need them at least 24hrs prior to your arrival. Guest access All guests have access to over two acres of landscaped garden, which has numerous secluded seating areas and a beautiful pond (children must be supervised at all times around the pond). There is also a giant BBQ which guests are welcome to use, and we can supply tinder, charcoal, and BBQ utensils at extra cost. In addition we have eighteen acres of fields - we have goats and chickens roaming in some of them, but guests are welcome to explore - just ask us in advance to we can provide updated information livestock and access. We also have an events barn with comfy sofas, full size ping pong table, along with table football, a mini pool table, and dozens of board games. Occasionally the barn is reserved for private events - we are a licensed wedding venue and also offer catered and uncatered dinner party hire, and daytime hire for corporate and social events. We have a pair of EV Chargers, one tethered, in the upper car park - these supply up to 7.5KW of power and are managed by the Voltshare App. We have two car parks and an overflow parking field - for Stable cottage we recommend guests use the upper car park. When not using the EV Chargers, we ask that guests park away from them to give others space to charge. Our cottages sit at the head of the Quarme Valley with stunning southerly views across the Exmoor countryside. You will be spoilt for choice with lots of beautiful local walks through woods, open moorland and fields. Views from Dunkery Beacon (the highest point on Exmoor and just a few miles on foot or by car from Little Quarme) stretch to Dartmoor in the south, Hinkley Point in the east and even the Brecon Beacons in Wales on a very clear day. Dogs are very welcome at Little Quarme- if you have any questions regarding bringing your dogs, please get in touch. We charge £5 per dog per stay and provide a goody box with water bowl, poo bags, treats, toys, towels, furniture blankets, and collar tags with our details. We have two EV chargers, one of which is tethered in case you forget your charging cable. Our Games Barn is normally available to guests - it features table football, pool, ping pong, board games, and a sun deck. It is also available to hire for workshops, dinner parties, anniversaries, and wedding ceremonies. Wheddon Cross is a village in the parish of Cutcombe in the heart of Exmoor, based around the crossroads; the roads run from north to south between Minehead and Dulverton, and east to west between Taunton and North Devon. The village is argued to be the highest on Exmoor, standing at 980 feet above sea level, and the highest point on Exmoor, Dunkery Beacon (1704 feet above sea level) is the focal point of the village. Dunkery Beacon is about three miles from the village, there are fantastic panoramic views from Dunkery; wild moorland to the west, the Bristol Channel and Wales to the north, the rolling Brendon Hills to the east and the Quarme Valley to the south. In recent years the village has become famous for the abundance of snowdrops in the nearby valley which has become known as 'Snowdrop Valley'. The snowdrops bloom around February and is often referred to as a "carpet of snowdrops"! Wheddon Cross is surrounded by beautiful countryside; open moorland, wooded valleys and farmland. An abundance of wildlife can often be seen, including Exmoor ponies and red deer. There are a number of great walks along marked footpaths and bridleways, including the famous Coleridge Way which passes through. Wheddon Cross is a thriving community and offers many local services for a small village. The village shop is a well-stocked mini-supermarket incorporating a Post Office counter, petrol pumps, cash point machine and has good opening hours. The Rest & Be Thankful Inn is the village pub which serves food and is child and dog friendly. The village also has a first school, church, playing field, public conveniences, and various bus services. Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 9 miles away. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town), high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops, cafes and restaurants, etc throughout the town.
