DUE TO SNOW DEPTH, IT IS NECESSARY TO WALK THE LAST 300 YARDS FROM THE PARKING AREA UNTIL AROUND MAY 1ST. MUST BRING YOUR OWN WATER AND LIGHTING UNTIL AFTER THE SNOW MELTS Nicely furnished rustic cabin nestled among large spruce trees. Located approximately 3/4 mile from the Gulkana River(12 miles north of Glennallen). Cabin is also located just 8 miles from the historic Gakona Roadhouse and the Copper River. Beautiful views of the magnificent Wrangell Mountains abound in the area. The cabin is secluded and has a south facing view. No person on site and check in is by phone or in Anchorage. The cabin is 1/3 mile from the highway. Road is not plowed in the winter. Please note that guests arriving between October 1st and May 1st must bring their own water and lighting. There are electrical hookups if you have a generator. The road is not plowed in the winter so access could be a problem due to snow depth. Some winter guests park along the highway and ski or snowshoe in. This is a remote cabin (vehicle accessible) and directions/check-in are provided by phone unless passing through Anchorage. There is no running water, electricity, or WIFI, and toilet facilities are provided by an outhouse. Guests are required to clean the cabin when they leave. Guests must bring their own water before the middle of May. It is preferred that guests bring their own sleeping bags due to the logistics of cleaning linens, but clean linens are provided and sleeping bags are available if necessary. Cabin does have a propane cooking stove, battery powered lighting, a wood stove/firewood, and kitchen supplies (pots, pans, dishes, silverware). There is excellent cell phone service with AT&T but may not be available with GCI. The "Award Winning" comfortable upstairs king bed is accessed by a factory made ladder as shown in the photographs. This ladder may be difficult for elderly, handicapped, or inebriated persons to climb. No showers are available at the cabin, but are available in Glennallen. This place is designed for the person who enjoys a rustic, natural, pleasant, peaceful setting, or who just wants a place to crash while on the road. It is available at an economical price for those who are willing to sacrifice a few amenities. Most guests love it. Lots of mosquitoes in the area during the first part of the summer. It is requested that guests leave the cabin in a clean, tidy condition when they depart for the next guests since nobody is available on site. If You Are Looking For A True Alaskan Experience This Is It!! I personally come here occasionally to unwind! Access is available to all areas of the cabin and surroundings. There is no on-site attendant and guests will either have to check-in by phone and may have to bring their own water and sleeping bags, or check-in and out in Anchorage. Airbnb email messages are monitored regularly. There is excellent cell phone service in the area. It is a wooded and remote cabin. No public transportation. Guests are required to clean the cabin when they leave and leave it in good condition for the next guests since there is no on-site person.
