Sandra's Cabin, a newly constructed luxury abode, graces Murch Island in Franklin, Maine, promising a blend of comfort and adventure. Discover the enchanting surroundings as you wander along the island's winding paths, immersing yourself in the natural beauty of moss-draped boulders, swimming, kayaking, and campfires at your door on the serene waters of Georges Pond. The space Sandra's Cabin is a 1900 sft newly built home on an 8 acre groomed island. The first floor of the cabin is an open floor plan with a master bedroom, bathroom, laundry room and powder room. There is plenty of storage in the kitchen pantry. The second floor has a media room with a projector and screen, plenty of comfortable seating, a full bathroom and second bedroom. Both dormers have been set up with a desks, chairs and a wifi printer. Guest access Access to the island is exclusively by water, with parking available at no cost for your convenience. 224 Georges Pond Road is the parking lot and boat dock. A seamless journey to your island retreat and allows you to plan your day trips on your schedule with these 3 options: - Bring your own boat. - Rent a boat from a local boat service (Downeast Boat Rentals). - We can drop you off the first day with all your belongings and pick you up on the last. You'll sign a waiver for passage. If you choose to travel to/from the island to shore, you can easily kayak or take a boat. (5 minutes by kayak, 1 minutes by boat). There is parking for your vehicle on shore at 224 Georges Pond Road and a quick hop down the street is the main beach where you will launch a boat. Should you wish to leave during your stay you will travel between the island dock and 224 dock. The entire island and Sandra's Cabin on Murch Island is private during your visit. Other things to note Should you decide to venture off the island for a day of exploration, Franklin is 23 miles from Acadia National Park and a short kayak ride from Murch Island to where your vehicle will be parked. This area also has several hiking trails including Schoodic Mountain, Tunk Mountain and bike trails through the blueberry close to Georges Pond.
