Casa Colibrí Nuqui- Private Double Room

Welcome to paradise on the Pacific coast of Colombia. Stay in private, standalone room, built with local materials, in the same traditional style used for generations that overlooks the sea. I have built and extended my home over many years, it has a small herb garden. I have created an integrated experience with my guests, trying to create the feeling of a family style homestead while you share time with me and the locals, set in one of the most bio-diverse natural areas on the planet. The space I built the standalone with the help of local villages over a number of years. It has natural ventilation due its location right on the beach and open style; this keeps the place fresh and comfortable all year round. It is ideal for one person or a couple – if you are a group of up to 11 people please look for my other listing which is a large room with 8 beds located in the first floor of the main house. The sleeping area has one double bed with a mosquito net. The main house to which you have access has a full kitchen with a large fridge/freezer. The center of the house offers a large living space for relaxing and talking about the amazing adventures you will have each day. There are two full bathrooms with toilet and shower. Drinking water is provided. Around the property is a full garden with herbs, vegetables and locally grown produce. The house is set in the small village of Arusí where the local economy relies on fishing and farming. Like most small villages in the world the neighbors are both friendly and curious about visitors; if so choose you will have the opportunity to integrate with your temporary neighbors. Beyond human life the rainforest meets the sea. The surrounding forest is one of the most bio-diverse in the world with extensive bird life, amphibians such as small poisonous frogs as well as hundreds of different types of flora and fauna. Nearby about 40 minutes walk away in another village called termales is a spa and treatment center. It has to be one of the most remote natural spa’s in the world, with natural pools and a number of services such as massages and natural skin treatments. The house is called “Casa Colibrí” which in English means hummingbird house. It is only possible to fly or to come by boat from Buenaventura. Please check the flights and availability from one of the three regular companies that fly Medellin/Nuqui - they are Satena, Grupo San German and Aeronuqui. Guest access You have full access to the whole property apart from the first sleeping area in the main house. There are 2 shared bathrooms. The bathroom is shared with other guests and myself. The other guests I may have are in the first floor sleeping area with a different entrance via the main house - if are group please review my other listing which can cater for up to 11 people. During your stay I am always around to ensure that my guests, I like you think of them as my temporary family, have a wonderful experience. I can arrange tours, preparation of local cuisine or simply help you integrate with the local community. I am one of very few super hosts in the area who over the years has built what I like to think is a unique experience in this remote part of the world where the bio diverse rainforest meets the ocean. Other things to note Note that as this area is in the heart of the Colombian jungle some services are not 5 star!! There is no hot water, although this is really not necessary. Electric supply is limited to afternoons and evenings. I do have a generator if there is an emergency. There is no internet in the house, but internet can be available through a government run program in the village. Food is limited in the area so if you plan to cook its a good idea to bring as much produce as you can with you. I offer 3 meals a day for 60.000 pesos by person.
