This part of rural Devon is known as Ruby Country, ideal for walkers and countryside lovers, and is also within easy reach of the Tarka Trail which offers spectacular off-road walking and cycling. Further afield, the stunning coastline offers plenty of beaches, ideal for surfing, swimming, and rock pool fun. The coastal towns of Bude, Clovelly, Bideford and Westward Ho! are all within easy reach by car, where you will find traditional seaside activities, surfing and the Southwest Coast Path. The pretty fishing villages of Padstow and Port Isaac, made famous by ’Doc Martin’, the hit TV series, are well worth a visit, as is mystical Tintagel with the legendary King Arthur’s castle. A shorter drive south takes you to the wild beauty of Dartmoor National Park where you can have a delightful pub lunch in the village of Belstone or take a walk on the moors and see Dartmoor ponies.
