Other things to note On two floors, an apartment for a maximum of 4 people (approx. 70 square meters of living space) is available, with a living/sleeping room on the ground floor (incl. Pull-out couch bed for two light people, a nice fireplace for a romantic wood fire and German SATELLITE TV) and a separate kitchen with entrance from the large terrace. The staircase in the kitchen leads to the 1st floor into a bright anteroom, from which the bathroom (shower, toilet, two sinks) as well as the bedroom (large double bed) go off. From there you have access to the large balcony (about 5 x 2 m), which allows you a magnificent view of the Gironde. Enjoy your breakfast or your evening Médoc wine here at the sound of the waves. Separate to the bedroom is the dressing room (instead of a wardrobe a large "wardrobe room" with make-up mirror, etc.). You have enough space on the large house grounds to romp around, play, sunbathe, sunbathe, relax. The large trees give you cooling shade even on hot days. At any time of the year, you can sit in the garden for hours, look, dream and simply "be there"; "deceleration" to the conscious slowdown of time can easily be realized here. And exactly the wine you see growing right behind the house can be obtained from the winery owner next door and enjoy in the evening, at sunset or by the campfire. Our country house is located in one of the most beautiful areas of France, in the famous wine-growing area of the Médoc , about 70 km north of Bordeaux, about 12 km from Lesparre, the "main town"; the peninsula. The Médoc is like a large peninsula between two large water areas, the Atlantic Ocean and the Gironde (Sea Delta). A small dirt road leads you through the wide, pristine shore of the Gironde directly to the water (about 100 m away). The vineyards right behind the house are nice to look at in any season: in spring and summer, fruity green in spring and summer, full of thick, juicy grapes in late summer and dazzling in all colors in autumn. Only about 25 minutes away by car you will find the fine sandy beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. Well-known seaside resorts such as Montalivet-les-Bains or Soulac-sur-Mer offer everything that makes a beach fan's heart beat faster. Also ideal here: kite surfing on the Lac of Hourtin, horseback riding on the Gironde, bike rides, hiking, ... You should use the good location of our country house for excursions in the area: Just a few kilometers up the Gironde is Pauillac, in the vicinity of which you will find the most famous wineries in France: the castles of the barons of Rothschild (Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Chateau Lafite), some of which you can even visit, the Chateaux Palmer and Margaux, etc. Also, most of the smaller winemakers of the Medoc are also happy to show you wine tradition and wine culture by opening the gates of their cellars for you. There, the barrels and often old, valuable bottles are stored in the cool partial shade; there you will get to know the wine and its growing areas, its locations, vintages and flavors during a wine tasting. Of course, the metropolis of Bordeaux with its numerous sights and architectural features of the 18th century is also worth a visit: e.g. the house facades on the Quais, the Place de la Bourse, the Opera House, the monument in honor of the Girondists, the numerous museums or the picturesque old quarters (Saint Pierre, Saint-Eloi, Saint-Michel, etc.). Our house is about 70 km (one hour's drive) from Bordeaux. It would be a sin not to test the good French cuisine in this region of France. You will find many restaurants in all price ranges where you can eat really excellently. In particular, the seafood (fish, oysters, mussles) are prepared in many restaurants in an excellent way. The price for a menu with 3-4 courses is about 30 EUR (up of course no limit). In addition, there is no shortage of small bistros serving down-to-earth dishes. Fresh oysters and other regional products can also be found on the market in Montalivet. What distinguishes the Atlantic coast from the Médoc landscape on the Gironde? Once you've been there, you'll see it: The Médoc is much more beautiful and varied than the coastal strip of Aquitaine. Drive through the natural small villages, which were not built for the tourist (unlike the seaside resorts), drive through hilly vineyards, oak and pine forests, past numerous wineries and castles - this landscape will delight you. Fortunately, it is still a secret tip to spend your holidays on the Gironde and still take advantage of the benefits of the Atlantic as needed. And: In the surrounding villages near our country house, you will still be warmly welcomed, because there is no unpleasant tourist hustle and bustle here. Now you already have a small taste of what awaits you. Treat yourself to an eventful holiday in your country house in Medoc - it's definitely worth it! In summary, the following points: They "fit" into this country house and the surroundings of the Médoc if you ... - Love tranquility and untouched nature, - appreciate a large garden with an abundance of flowers, shrubs as well as fruit trees at your disposal and where your children can also play undisturbed, - rural atmosphere - with cows, geese, dogs, frog concerts, moles, etc. - just find "great", - looking for a very spacious house with a hint of romance, - really want to relax, - also often - maybe every two to three days - like to swim in the sea or in a large freshwater lake or practice water sports there: in only about 25 minutes by car you can reach the most magnificent beaches and ideal water sports areas, - There are riders and would like to ride in the great outdoors, - want to visit interesting places, sights and castles/wineries, - enjoy good food and good wine, - Don't shy away from contact with the local population, maybe even search - as much as your French knowledge or sign language allows - and experience real France. You should not spend your holiday here if ... - You definitely want to drive to the beach every day, as vacation for you consists only of beach life: then you should prefer to choose accommodation in the immediate vicinity of the beach. - the sight of a field mouse or spider or flies, as they happen in the countryside, can spoil you for the holiday joy; in a country house there are occasionally cobwebs, dust and the like despite regular cleaning, as well as possibly residues of animal hair (dog, cat, horse). - You need "high-life" and disco every evening: you will hardly find this here, because here is "deceleration". Smoking is not allowed in the house (non-smoking house); outside, e.g. on the covered terrace, you are of course allowed to smoke. You take over the final cleaning yourself, or you commission our cleaner (depending on availability) for a separate payment (approx. 120 EUR, depending on pollution). We would love to welcome you to our country house as a guest! With the travel documents, you will receive detailed information on arrival, tips for your stay as well as general rules to be observed. Smaller "caretaker activities" (such as putting garbage cans on the street, dispose of your old glass, etc.) are to be taken over by you as a tenant of the holiday home. Please note: All information, including in the house, is exclusively available in German!!! The personal reception on site is usually provided by French-speaking agents. Bed linen covers, fitted sheets and towels are not available on site, but are instead brought by the tenant. You can do the thorough final cleaning yourself (or you can hire our cleaner on site for an additional fee and depending on their availability; please ask us before the start of the trip).
