La Querida farm

Finca „La Querida“ is a small farm (3 1/2 ha) situated at 5 km away from the centre of the charming village Masatepe, approximately 450 m above sea level. This height and the vegetation guarantee a pleasant climate all the year round. We are Ricardo and Gertraud Maria, who fell in love in Austria almost 30 years ago and now we spend our retirement years in Ricardo’s beautiful home country. Here we run an organic farm, where we live with our two peaceful guard dogs Guasón and Samba. The space On our farm we grow coffee, bananas, plantains, pithahayas, avocados, coconut, mango, oranges, lime and lemon, as well as grapefruit. Moreover, there are seasonal organic vegetables. Included in the price is a healthy breakfast, either a traditional “gallo pinto” with fresh free-range eggs from our chicken, cheese and plantain or a continental breakfast with homemade jam or marmalade, both with a bowl of fresh seasonal fruit, fresh fruit juice and farm grown organic coffee, tea or herbal teas. Attached to the farm there is a small nursery where we produce mainly citrus and avocado trees as well as a variety of ornamemtal plants. Guest access Depending on the season you can join in on farmwork – picking and processing coffee, grafting plants, making jam or marmalade – or you can just take a walk or jog through the plantation or put a hammock between two trees and enjoy the fresh air and the singing of the birds. Or, if you want to train your body, you are welcome to use our fitness gear in the patio.
