Lakeside getaway
Come and unwind in this unique cabin located in the heart of the Normandy countryside. The 55m2 cabin comprises 2 bedrooms, 1 living room/kitchen, and a bathroom. Constructed from durable and recycled materials, this refuge has been designed to accommodate you for a peaceful stay in a green setting. However, please be aware that the site is not connected to water and electricity networks, so you will need to be mindful of your energy consumption during your stay. The kitchen is equipped with gas stoves, a small refrigerator, and all the necessary cookware and essentials for preparing your meals. Outside, you will have access to BBQ grills, which should be used with caution. A large table in the living room can accommodate up to 6 people for dining, and during sunny days, you can also use a similarly-sized table with an umbrella outdoors. Please note that the wood-burning stove is the only heating option available in the cabin. You will have the necessary wood for heating, but be aware that the bathroom may feel quite cold in the mornings. (Please refer to the off-grid living information on our website for more details.) In the living room, a large and comfortable sofa welcomes you to enjoy one of the adventure books available in the library or play board games such as dominoes, checkers, or Monopoly. It's perfect for those long winter evenings. The cabin is not connected to traditional utilities (water, electricity, internet). We have found suitable solutions to ensure you have the best possible stay. Please take note of the following information before your arrival: Electricity: The cabin is powered by a solar panel and battery system. Everything has been designed to minimize energy consumption. The lighting uses LED bulbs, the cooking plates are gas-powered, and unfortunately, there is no oven or TV installed. You can monitor the battery level using a meter in the living room, but we kindly ask you to be mindful if you don't want to end your evening by candlelight. Heating is provided by a wood-burning stove, and all necessary materials for starting a fire are available. Please exercise caution when starting the stove. Water: The water in the cabin comes from collected rainwater via gutters, which is then stored in an underground tank. It is filtered and pumped for use in the shower, kitchen, and toilet. The filtration system is designed to eliminate 99% of bacteria, but the water is not potable. However, you can use it for showering and dishwashing. While Normandy is known for its humidity, we still ask you to be mindful of your water consumption, especially during the summer. We will also provide you with 20 liters of potable water for each stay. Internet: This place encourages disconnection, but you can also choose this inspiring setting for a week of remote work. Since there is no Wi-Fi available, you will need to rely on your phone's cellular network. Most operators provide access to 4G (and possibly 5G) networks. It's perfect for sending emails, but it may not always be sufficient for video conferences or streaming the latest episode of "Emily in Paris." Security: Please note that the two ponds are not fenced and you are in charge of looking after young children around the water. Swimming and fishing is not allowed.
