Description
A Tranquil Sussex Countryside Getaway Escape to the beautiful South Downs at this unique and peaceful retreat. Charleston Farmhouse and Berwick station are within walking distance across three fields, with direct trains to London and Brighton. Explore local footpaths, the stunning Cuckmere Haven and Seven Sisters, or enjoy tea at Charleston and Firle Place. Glyndebourne is 12 minutes away, with Lewes, Alfriston, Brighton and Eastbourne all within easy reach. The space A comfortable, self-contained first-floor annexe, accessed via a flight of steps. It has a kitchenette with microwave, fridge, sink and electric two-ring hob (no oven), plus a bathroom with bath, shower hose and toilet. The main room has a standard double bed, two-seater sofa and dining table for two, which can also be used as a workspace. Fast fibre broadband is also provided. The owners' house is a separate adjacent building and shares the parking area with the annexe. Guests have access to a separate, unenclosed garden area away from the house. A public footpath runs between the house and annexe and is used by local dog walkers and ramblers. Guest access The property is accessed via a flight of stairs. Other things to note We sometimes need to keep the annexe unavailable in advance for family and friends, or if I’m working away and unable to host. This means the calendar may appear booked up a month or two ahead, but we may release dates closer to the time. So do check back for last-minute availability. We provide a small welcome pack including: Some nice fresh bread Eggs from our own hens (when they’re laying well — not guaranteed, but a bonus!) A couple portions of butter A couple of portions of jam A jar of oats Coffee and tea A jug of cow’s milk A bottle of mineral water Our water comes from our own borehole rather than the mains. We test it annually and drink it ourselves, and it has a lovely chemical-free taste. We also leave a bottle of shop-bought drinking water for guests who prefer it. Arriving on foot from Berwick station: During the winter months, or after periods of very wet weather, we recommend bringing wellies as the walk across the fields can have some deep puddles.
