Rare, restored Belle Epoque luxury apartment.

Description

This exquisitely restored apartment in the beating heart of St-Germain-des-Prés, is a portal to the Paris of La Belle Époque. Brimming with bespoke hand-crafted design elements there’s nothing quite like it. The painted salon wall panels depicting scenes from neighbouring Luxembourg Gardens, the Japanese Willow mosaic in the salle de bain, and the brasserie kitchen fresco will help make your stay in Paris feel truly unique. If you’re looking for the long-lost Paris of yesteryear, welcome home. The space The neighbourhood: The immediate neighbourhood boasts an eye-watering variety of cafés, restaurants, brasseries, bistros and bars including the 6th arrondissement’s most famous establishments: Les Deux Magots, Cafe de Flore, Brasserie Lipp, Le Procope, Bar du Marché, and La Palette, all of which can be reached in under 3 minutes. The street: An historic street dating back 400 years, the rue Princesse is nestled between the churches of St-Germain-des-Prés and St Sulpice, whose bells are a regular reminder of exactly where you are (fortunately they don’t ring at night!). This is one of the city's most vibrant streets with a number of notable bars and bistros. Bedroom: Upon entry to your room from the quiet courtyard of a 17th century building, you will instantly be transported back to the romantic heyday of ‘La Belle Epoque’. The lovingly restored interior is awash with lavish period details wherever your eye strays. Intricate wood panelling and hand-carved Art Nouveau fretwork combine with oak Versailles parquet, velvet drapes, painted fabric wall panels, and antique lamps with ostrich egg shades providing a sumptuous and decadent mood. Bathroom: The bathroom is decorated with a mosaic of 6,500 hand made tiles in a willow motif characteristic of the 19th century Paris obsession with Japanisme. Kitchen: One of the great pleasures of Paris is to stroll through the daily street markets that sell delicious local produce, and the fully equipped kitchen that pays homage to the globe-lit brasseries of the 1890s, allows this experience not merely to be a window shopping exercise but, for the culinary adventurous, to buy and cook for oneself. Right on the doorstep, the renowned Marché Saint Germain sells the very best of French produce, while not much further the world famous Bon Marché will provide for every taste. If home-cooking is not your thing, a picnic basket and blanket is provided so you can grab some gastronomic fare from the marché and spread out on the lawns of the Jardin de Luxembourg and feast your way through those glorious Parisian afternoons. Guest access Access to this private, secluded ground floor apartment is via the inner courtyard of a residential building dating back to 1630. Please note there is a no smoking policy not only in the apartment itself but all communal areas of the building including the courtyard. Other things to note WIFI: The wifi is very fast: 500Mbps TV: Since a TV is not usually a priority during a stay in Paris and in this particular case would be conspicuously incongruous with the interior design of the space we have decided against the provision of a TV. We hope this will not hamper your enjoyment of the apartment NOISE: While this courtyard apartment is a very quiet place, the front of the building happens to be on one of the most vibrant streets in the whole of Paris. On rare occasions during major sporting events when the French national team is playing one can hear La Marseillaise echo down through the courtyard - and cheers will inform you when a goal has been scored. Please also note that rue Princesse is one of the most 'happening' streets in Paris at the weekends. The apartment remains a quiet retreat from the hubbub, even as the revelry in the street is in full swing, however sometimes on Friday and Saturday nights the faint strains of music can be detected, and during these times while the noise level remains extremely low, absolute silence cannot be guaranteed. Nevertheless, the apartment remains a tranquil haven from the hustle and bustle. Registration Details 7510610483146
