Make your Hillsdale County home base in one of the earliest houses in Jonesville, conveniently located 10 minutes from Hillsdale College. The house is a solid preserved house which invites you to kick off your shoes and relax. It has a full kitchen, a large dining table and beds for 6 persons. There is one bathroom which has a shower and plenty of hot water. Full kitchen. Washer and dryer. The space When I first saw this house for sale in 2022, I fell in love with it. Originally built is 1838 and kept up well for all those years, Walt and Jean Rupp had purchased it in the 1990s so Jean could attach the back of the lot to their yard and she totally devoted her retirement years to carving an English garden out of it. Meanwhile Walt restored the interior of the Rupp house, and they used it briefly as a guest house, and then it sat empty for years as Walt continued to maintain it. We totally repainted the interior, removed 4 layers of old roofing, and it is now set to share with others. I absolutely love it, but my home is on the farm south of Hillsdale; restoring and sharing it makes my soul happy. Guest access You have the first floor of the house. You are welcome to use the washer and dryer. The yard is relaxing with outdoor furniture and you may explore the overgrown English cottage garden past the white fence in the back. That is a shared garden space with The Garden House, my other Airbnb in Jonesville, and was planted by Jean Rupp in the 1990s, and it was her pride and joy. Once she was in her 90's she was unable to keep up with it, but it will be a delight re-discovering and nurturing the flowers. The upper dormer is not finished yet and off limits till I get it completed. Other things to note The stair to the second floor is a unique solid wood spiral stair from the 1800's. It's cool and tempting, but there is no rail and for your safety we ask you not to use it. All that is upstairs are 2 dormers that haven't been changed since 1900 except for electrical service and heat ducts. Next project.....
